Parliament is a funk band formed in the late 1960s by George Clinton as part of his Parliament-Funkadelic collective. Less rock-oriented than its sister act Funkadelic, Parliament drew on science-fiction and outlandish performances in their work. The band scored a number of Top 10 hits, including the million-selling 1975 single "Give Up the Funk ," and Top 40 albums such as Mothership Connection (1975).
Garry Marshall Shider was an American musician and guitarist. He was musical director of the P-Funk All-Stars for much of their history. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.

Centered around songwriters/multi-instrumentalists Simon Bartholomew and Andrew Levy, the core members of the group since its founding, Brand New Heavies are best known for a string of successful singles in the early 1990s featuring N'Dea Davenport as lead vocalist.
Funkdoobiest was an American hip hop group from Los Angeles, composed of rappers Jason "Son Doobie" Vasquez, Tyrone "Tomahawk Funk" Pacheco and DJ Ralph "Tha Funky Mexican" Medrano. They are members of the Soul Assassins collective. The group has released four studio albums. Their third LP, The Troubleshooters, was recorded and released without any participation of Tomahawk Funk due to his departure from the group.

G-Funk Classics, Vol. 1 & 2 is the debut studio album by American hip hop recording artist Nate Dogg. The album was originally to be released through Death Row Records in 1996, but the album was shelved due to legal problems at Death Row Records, and he wasn't able to release it until the summer of 1998. By that time, the popularity of West Coast hip hop had greatly diminished and the album only managed to make it to number 58 on the Billboard 200 and number 20 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album did produce four singles with two top 40 singles, however, "Never Leave Me Alone", which was released on October 22, 1996 through Death Row Records and peaked at number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.
