Rena Heer is a Canadian former television personality who appeared on CTV's Canada AM program and on the Toronto-area news channel CP24.
Heer was born and raised in Clearwater, British Columbia, Canada. She attended Simon Fraser University on a scholarship where she studied for her undergraduate degree in Communication studies. After completing her degree, she was hired by a local software company and spent the next five years in software business development, while contributing part-time to various local South Asian media. Translating her interpersonal skills, promotions and marketing experience as well as her experience with the South Asian community to the television industry, she took the role of community relations manager at Channel M upon the station's launch in late spring of 2003. While also at Channel M, she hosted the station's community segment, Channel M Preview, as well as a cooking show called Fusion Fare.
Heer left Channel M in September 2005 for a traffic reporter position at Global BC, which she left in December 7, 2007 to join CTV's Canada AM as a weather presenter for Western Canada. She also served as a reporter for CTV News at 6 at its Vancouver affiliate. From January 28, 2008 to June 6, 2008, she handled weather along with Jeff Hutcheson on what was a revamped version of the national Canada AM show. On June 6, 2008, CTV announced that it was cancelling the Vancouver portion of Canada AM. [1]
Heer worked on CP24 as an anchor and reporter. She went on maternity leave in November 2010, and returned in April, 2011. She continued at CP24 until 2017 when she moved back to British Columbia.
Canada AM was a Canadian morning television news show that aired on CTV from 1972 to 2016. Its final hosts were Beverly Thomson and Marci Ien, with Jeff Hutcheson presenting the weather forecast and sports. The program aired on weekdays, and was produced from CTV's facilities at 9 Channel Nine Court in Scarborough, Toronto.

Breakfast Television is a Canadian morning television program that is broadcast on Rogers Media's television network Citytv. As of 2023, BT only broadcast from Toronto as a four-hour morning show, while a national edition aired in 8:30-10 a.m. local time on all Citytv stations. Versions were formerly broadcast in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Montreal, but have been canceled and replaced with alternative programming. The version broadcast by the Atlantic Satellite Network continued to use the brand under license from Rogers until 2011, when it was re-launched as CTV Morning Live upon the service's rebranding as CTV 2 Atlantic.

The newscast division was founded on September 28, 1975 as CityPulse as a standalone local newscast on the network's Toronto and Vancouver stations owned by CHUM Limited. Through the acquisitions of the Edmonton, Winnipeg and Calgary A-Channel stations in 2004, it was relaunched under the CityNews brand on August 2, 2005 and later expanded to Montreal in 2012. In Ontario, the program was branded The Morning Show, with local variations being produced on Global Toronto, CKWS Kingston, and CHEX Peterborough, before they too adopted the Global News Morning branding.

GlobalNews Hour at 6 airs on CHAN-DT Vancouver, CICT-DT Calgary, and CITV-DT Edmonton. CHBC-DT Kelowna's flagship newscast is the hour-long Global News at 5. CIII-DT Toronto and CKMI-DT Montreal both air newscasts known as Global News at 5:30. CFRE-DT Regina, CFSK-DT Saskatoon, CKND-DT Winnipeg, CISA-DT Lethbridge, CHNB-DT Saint John, and CIHF-DT Halifax all air half-hour newscasts known as Global News at 6. CHAN, CITV, and CICT, CFRE, and CFSK also air a 5PM newscast known as Global News at 5, which airs before Global National.
