Representative Office of South Ossetia, Donetsk is an unofficial diplomatic mission of South Ossetia. The office is located in the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), Donetsk. South Ossetia has recognized the DPR, but it hasn't created an official embassy so far as of 2016.

History

South Ossetia recognized the DPR in 2014. The South Ossetian president Leonid Tibilov announced that the foreign ministry would establish the diplomatic mission in Donetsk. [1]

The representative office was opened in Donetsk, the DPR's capital, on 16 April 2015. [2] It is the first foreign diplomatic mission in Donetsk.

The Donetsk Ministry of Foreign Affairs proclaimed: [3]

This event will help to strengthen the friendly relations and the development of relations not only in diplomacy, but also in the economic, humanitarian and social spheres.

Foreign relations of Artsakh

The Republic of Artsakh is a republic with limited recognition in the South Caucasus region. The Republic of Artsakh controls most of the territory of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast. It is recognized by only three other non-UN member states, Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Transnistria. The rest of the international community recognizes Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan. In November 2012, a member of Uruguay's foreign relations committee stated that his country could recognize Nagorno-Karabakh's independence. Foreign relations of Abkhazia

The Republic of Abkhazia (Abkhazia) is a self-proclaimed state that declared independence soon after a catastrophic war as a residual effect of the dissolutionn of the Soviet Union in early 1990s, known as the War in Abkhazia (1992–1993), between Abkhazian and Georgian forces. As newly declared state, Abkhazia struggled to gain recognition from the international community, with one country recognizing Abkhazia as an independent state immediately after the war. Firstly, Transnistria and Abkhazia mutually recognised each other on 22 January 1993. This was seen as the first step to Abkhazia looking towards recognition. After two decades, on 20 September, 2005, the second country that mutually recognised Abkhazia was South Ossetia. Third, Nagorno-Karabakh also followed the two other countries in recognizing Abkhazia on 14 November, 2006.

Foreign relations of South Ossetia

The Republic of South Ossetia – the State of Alania is a self-proclaimed state which is recognized by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Syria, Nauru, Abkhazia, Artsakh, the Donetsk People's Republic, the Luhansk People's Republic, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and Transnistria. It is considered by most member states of the United Nations to be part of Georgia, as is neighboring Abkhazia. South Ossetia declared independence from Georgia in 1991, but did not receive recognition from any UN member states until after the 2008 South Ossetia War. It, along with Russia, Abkhazia, Syria, and North Korea, is the only state recognized by member states of the United Nations that recognizes the Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic.

The Transnistrian republic is recognized by three states with limited recognition, and is a member of one international organization, the Community for Democracy and Human Rights, that was established by these four states.

Abkhazia–Russia relations is the bilateral relationship between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation. Russia recognised Abkhazia on 26 August 2008, following the August 2008 Russo-Georgian War. Abkhazia and Russia established diplomatic relations on 9 September 2008.

Abkhazia–Vanuatu relations Bilateral relations

Bilateral relations between Abkhazia and Vanuatu were begun when Vanuatu recognised Abkhazia's independence on 23 May 2011. On that day a joint statement on establishment of diplomatic relations was signed. However, the exact nature of the recognition was a matter of dispute and was not regularized until July 2013. However, over the years and part of domestic powerplay within Vanuatu's government, the recognition has swung back and forth. In 2019 Vanuatu's minister of Foreign Affairs "confirmed Vanuatu’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity" and effectively withdrew the recognition of Abkhazia.

Donetsk Peoples Republic–South Ossetia relations Bilateral relations

Donetsk People's Republic–South Ossetia relations are foreign relations between the Donetsk People's Republic and South Ossetia. Both of them are partially recognized states and disputed territories, where the Donetsk People's Republic is considered Ukrainian territory and South Ossetia is considered as Georgia's territory. The DPR claims the territory of Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast. South Ossetia claims the territory of the now-abolished South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast.

The Donetsk People's Republic and the Luhansk People's Republic are Russian puppet states in the Donbas region of Ukraine.
