Resmi R Nair is an Indian activist and nude model, known for the 2014 Kiss of Love protest (KoL). [1] She has been an active model since 2010. [2]

Career

Beginnings (2010-2013)

She first rose to prominence as a Playboy Miss Social contest winner in 2013. She was the first woman from India to be selected for the award. She was described as a "small town girl from Kerala" during her time with Playboy. After winning the contest, she was looking start a career in acting. [3] She has also done some work in adult films, one of a small number of people from Kerala who work in the field. [2]

Kiss of Love protests and controversies (2014-2016)

Resmi and her husband Pasupalan were key organizers in the Kiss of Love protests in 2014. [1] She faced considerable backlash online over the Kiss of Love protests, but persisted in her efforts. [4]

The married couple were among 16 people arrested in 2015 as part of a child prostitution racket; [5] [1] [6] she would remain in custody for 10 months. [1]

The couple were granted bail in 2016. The Hindustan Times notes that no charges were filed against the couple, 15 months after their arrest. KoL protestors have since distanced themselves from the couple. [1] Charges were later filed in 2019, part of a larger investigation into the trafficking network. [7]

Later modelling career (2017-present)

In 2023, she had a photoshoot at the Gadhpahra Fort in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, which drew some criticism online and from local Hindu organizations over the supposed raunchy nature of the photos taken at the historic site. [8]
