Retirement Party is an American emo group from Chicago, Illinois.
The group originally began in Troy, Michigan under the name Sunglasses on a Plane. Under that name, the group was just a duo fronted by Avery Springer, whose sole release was an EP titled Excess Company. [1] [2] After changing their name to Retirement Party, the band – now consisting of Springer, guitarist Nick Cartwright, bassist Kevin Mandell, and drummer James Ringness [1] – self-released their first EP, titled Strictly Speaking.
[2] [3] In early 2018, the band signed to Boston-based label Counter Intuitive Records. [4] Soon after signing to the label, the band released their debut full-length album, Somewhat Literate. [5] The song "Passion Fruit Tea" was named in "Songs We Love" by NPR Music. [3]
The band was featured on Paste Magazine's list "The 15 Chicago Bands You Need To Know in 2018" as well as Stereogum's "40 Best New Bands Of 2018". [6] [7]
In 2020, the band released their second full-length album titled Runaway Dog . [8]
In 2022, the band announced their split via social media, with the band citing a change in their personal lives as the reason to discontinue the group. In the same post, they announced three final songs to release soon, a short farewell tour, and the cancellation of their European tour. The final Retirement Party show was held on April 14 at the Ukie Club in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The self-titled EP, Retirement Party, released on June 15, 2022.
On March 23, 2023, the band announced, via social media, that they were 'coming out of retirement' and supporting Pet Symmetry as part of their 10 year celebration tour.

The emo revival, or fourth wave emo, was an underground emo movement which began in the late 2000s and flourished until the mid-to-late 2010s. The movement began towards the end of the 2000s third-wave emo, with Pennsylvania-based groups such as Tigers Jaw, Algernon Cadwallader and Snowing eschewing that era's mainstream sensibilities in favor of influence from 1990s Midwest emo. Acts like Touché Amoré, La Dispute and Defeater drew from 1990s emo and especially its heavier counterparts, such as screamo and post-hardcore.
Galantis is a Swedish electronic music act consisting of producer Christian "Bloodshy" Karlsson. Formerly, they were a duo, alongside rising musician Style of Eye, until he decided to part ways with the project shortly after their sophomore album The Aviary in 2017. However, he made appearances in live performances and music videos as part of the project up until 2021.
Girlpool was an indie rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed by friends Avery Tucker and Harmony Tividad. Their debut self-titled EP Girlpool was released on Bandcamp in 2014 and re-released on Wichita Recordings later that year. They released their debut album Before the World Was Big in 2015, followed by Powerplant (2017) and What Chaos Is Imaginary (2019). Their fourth and final studio album, Forgiveness (2022), was released on April 29. In August 2022, the duo announced that they will be taking an indefinite break from the band.
Kittyhawk is an American emo band from Chicago, Illinois. The band has currently released one full-length album, one extended play, and four splits. The band broke up in 2016, but announced their reunion in October 2019.
Pet Symmetry is an American emo band from Chicago, Illinois. The band formed in 2012, and they are currently signed to Storm Chaser Records. The band's name is a play on words taken from Stephen King's novel Pet Sematary.
Hippo Campus is an American indie rock band from Saint Paul, Minnesota. Their musical inclinations appear to be firmly rooted in the UK, drawing inspiration from notable artists such as Little Comets and King Krule. They are signed to Psychic Hotline in the United States and Transgressive Records in the United Kingdom. The band has performed at South by Southwest, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Summerfest and Reading and Leeds Festivals, Hinterland Music Festival, as well as on Conan. Hippo Campus were named one of NPR Music's favorite new artists of 2017.

The band was formed in 2009 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and released their eponymous extended play two years later on Broken Rim Records. This first project has been described as emo and pop punk. In 2012, the band signed to Run for Cover Records and put out a split with Citizen. The next year, Turnover released their debut album, Magnolia, on Run for Cover Records. Magnolia reached number 15 on the Top Heatseekers chart, but failed to chart on the Billboard 200. In 2014, the band released their second extended play, Blue Dream, on Broken Rim Records.

Oso Oso is an American rock band from Long Beach, New York. Jade Lilitri, formerly of State Lines, is the only permanent member. Jade uses Lilitri as a pen name. The band has released four studio albums and two EPs. Their 2019 release, Basking in the Glow and their 2022 release, Sore Thumb were named "Best New Music" by online music magazine Pitchfork.
Why Don't We, shortened to WDW, is an American boy band consisting of Jack Avery, Corbyn Besson, Zach Herron, Jonah Marais and Daniel Seavey. They were formed in 2016 and have released two studio albums and six extended plays. The group canceled tour dates and took a break in 2022.

Origami Angel is an American rock band from Washington D.C., consisting of singer and guitarist Ryland Heagy and drummer Pat Doherty. The duo formed the band in 2016 after the demise of a common prior band, and released a series of EPs leading up to their debut studio album, Somewhere City in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic limited the ability to tour in support of the album, so they instead focused on recording material written during the prior sessions to release their second studio album, Gami Gang in 2021, and wrote and recorded further material for a series of smaller releases, including a mixtape, The Brightest Days, released in 2023. A third studio album, Feeling Not Found, is scheduled for release on September 27, 2024.
