Solanum lycocarpum, the wolf apple, is common in the Brazilian savanna, the Cerrado ecoregion. The plant is called lobeira or fruta-do-lobo in Portuguese. Wolf apples are so named because they are a favored fruit of the maned wolf, and may account for a large fraction of the animal's diet.
