Rewa Municipal Corporation is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city of Rewa in Madhya Pradesh state of India. The organization is known as Nagar Palik Nigam Rewa and in short as RMC. It was established in 1950. This civic administrative body administers an area of 69  km2. RMC is headed by Mayor of Rewa.

Overview

The governing structure of RMC consists of political and administrative wings. The political wing is an elected body of councilors headed by a mayor. The municipal commissioner from the IAS cadre heads the administrative wing and is responsible for strategic and operational planning and management of the corporation. The commissioner takes decisions on behalf of the board or the standing committee formed from the elected councilors to perform the duties of the corporation.

History

Rewa Municipality Corporation was formed in the form of a municipal corporation in the year 1950, in January 1981, the status of Nagar Palik Nigam was given by the Madhya Pradesh government. At present, Rewa has a total of 45 wards in the city, in which 6 wards are reserved for Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes, in which ward number 1 and 43 belong to Scheduled Tribes and ward number 28, 38, 39, 40 is reserved for Schedule Castes. Sartaj Singh Chhatwal was an Indian politician, who served as PWD minister in government of Madhya Pradesh. He was a member of the Lok Sabha of India in 2004. He represented the Narmadapuram constituency of Madhya Pradesh for four terms. Sartaj Singh was a longtime BJP member and even served as a minister in the Madhya Pradesh state government but on 8 November 2018, he joined the rival Indian National Congress party over denial of assembly ticket to him. He also served as Union Cabinet Minister, Health and Family Welfare from 16 May 1996 to 1 June 1996.

The Bhoj Metro is an under construction rapid transit system intended to serve the city of Bhopal, India, the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The total system consists of 6 corridors covering a distance of 104.87 kilometres (65.16 mi). Bhopal BRTS was a bus rapid transit system in Bhopal, located in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The construction was funded by the Central Government under its flagship JnNURM. Unlike most of BRT projects in India which are designed to cater the transportation needs of suburban parts of the city, Bhopal BRTS is designed mainly to serve the Central business districts (CBDs). Inter State Bus Terminal, Raipur officially Sri Balaji Swami Trust Sri Dudhadhari Math Inter State Bus Terminal also known as ISBT Bhatagaon is a newly constructed hi-tech bus stand situated in 25 acres at the Bhatagaon area of Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Being the first ISBT in Chhattisgarh the bus terminal is the largest bus station in whole Central and Eastern India with a capability of 300 buses in a day with a number of facilities. Its an Interstate Bus terminal which caters bus services to passengers come from adjoining States like: Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, etc. The main purpose for the stand is to replace the Minimata Agam Dass Guru Bus stand, Pandri, as the stand was creating traffic problems and wasn't safe so this stand has been constructed at the outskirts of Raipur City. This terminal was inaugurated by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on 20 August 2021. Management of the Terminal started from 15 November 2021 after 2 months of inauguration on the occasion of Devotthan Ekadashi and after 28 years old Pandri Bus Stand is now closed.

Rewa Airport, is a domestic airport, which serves the city of Rewa, in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is located at Chorhata, 11 km (6.8 mi) away from the city centre. The airport is part of the government's UDAN regional connectivity scheme.

2022 Madhya Pradesh local elections were held in July. The elections to 347 municipalities in Madhya Pradesh were held in two phases. On 6 July, polling was held for the 133 local bodies, while the polling in 214 local bodies was held on 13 July. In the second phase on 13 July, polling was held in five municipal corporations, 40 municipal councils and 168 nagar parishads.
