Rhodes I (1986) is the first album by American singer-songwriter Happy Rhodes.
Her first four albums were not conceived and recorded as album releases, but were a gathering together of songs recorded at Cathedral Sound Studios from 1984 to 1986. When fellow musician Kevin Bartlett offered to release Rhodes' songs on his cassette-only personal label Aural Gratification, Rhodes culled through the songs she had recorded and ordered them to her satisfaction.
Rhodes I and Rhodes II are often considered to be a double album by fans because the songs are similar in musical style and lyrical subject matter. The songs on both albums are very acoustically orientated, with most songs consisting of Rhodes playing a guitar and singing. This is opposed to Rhodes' later albums, which rely more on her electronic talents.
Originally released as a cassette tape, each copy sold was a 1 to 1 real-time dub. Rhodes I was released on CD in 1992 with additional tracks.

The Durutti Column are an English post-punk band formed in 1978 in Manchester, England. The band is a project of guitarist and occasional pianist Vini Reilly who is often accompanied by Bruce Mitchell on drums and Keir Stewart on bass, keyboards and harmonica. Happy Rhodes is an American singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and electronic musician with a four-octave vocal range, releasing 11 albums between 1986 and 2007. In 2016, she came out of retirement and started singing with Security Project, a Peter Gabriel appreciation band, singing lead for 11 live shows in 2016, 19 shows in 2017, and 8 more shows in Spring 2018.

Lifes Rich Pageant is the fourth studio album by the American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on July 28, 1986. R.E.M. chose Don Gehman to produce the album, which was recorded at John Mellencamp's Belmont Mall Studios in Belmont, Indiana. A Story is an album by Yoko Ono, recorded in 1974, during the "lost weekend" sessions in which John Lennon produced Walls and Bridges. It was unreleased until the 1992 box set Onobox, which featured material from A Story on disc six. It was only properly released as an individual album 23 years later in 1997, with the reissuing of Ono's back catalogue by Rykodisc. The reissue added three bonus tracks, including home demos and a live recording from the Starpeace tour.
Total Devo is the seventh studio album by the American new wave band Devo. Their first album for Enigma Records, it was originally released in May 1988, four years after their previous album, Shout. The album was recorded between 1986 and 1988, with the basic tracks recorded at Devo studios, in Marina del Rey, and the additional tracks at Master Control, in Burbank, California.

Strange Charm is the eighth solo studio album by English musician Gary Numan, originally released in November 1986, it was Numan's third release on his self-owned Numa Records label. The album was not released in the United States until 1999 when it was issued in a digitally remastered form with five bonus tracks by Cleopatra Records. The band experimented on the album, writing major-key rock songs and incorporating new instruments into their sound including the mandolin, as well as switching their original instruments on other songs.
