Maria "Ria" Ahlers (married Steenpaal) (born 20 July 1954) is a former high jumper from the Netherlands. She competed in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Olympics and finished in 16th and 12th place, respectively. Her personal best was 1.87 m (1976). [1] She was a national champion in 1972, 1972 and 1976.

Ahlers advocated for improved school library/media collections, services, and full librarian involvement in curriculum development, not only in the State of Washington, but nationally. She received many honors during her career, including entries in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who of American Women. Eleanor Ahlers died on November 24, 1997 in Seattle at the age of 85.
