Ricardo Ernesto Lagorio (born 7 March 1955) is an Argentine diplomat serving as permanent representee of Argentina to the United Nations since 14 March 2024. [1]
Lagorio holds a bachelor’s degree in pollical science and international relations from Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina and a PhD in political science from City University of New York. [1]
Lagorio career in Argentine Foreign Service began with his assignment to the Permanent Mission of Argentina to the United Nations from 1982 to 1989. He served as chief of staff to the minister of Defense in 1993 and as under-secretary of Policy and Strategy in the same ministry from 1994 to 1996 and was later deployed to the Argentine Embassy in the United States serving from 2000 to 2003. He was foreign policy advisor in the office of the vice president of Argentina from 2003 to 2007. [2] He was director of planning and strategic analysis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2015 to 2017 when he was appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Argentina to Russian Federation serving in those positions until 2020. An advisory member of the Argentine Council of Foreign Relations, he is serving as permanent representative of Argentina to the United Nations since 14 March 2024. [3] [4] [5]
