Rice is a city in Navarro County, Texas, United States. The population was 923 at the 2010 census.

The district has three schools - Rice High School (Grades 9-12), Rice Intermediate Middle School (Grades 3-8) and Rice Elementary School (Grades PK-2). The school colors are Blue and White, often using Black and Gray as a third color. The mascot is a Bulldog.

Rice High School is a public high school located in the city of Rice, Texas, USA and classified as a 3A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Rice Independent School District located in north central Navarro County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.

The Bulldog, also known as the British Bulldog or English Bulldog, is a medium-sized breed of dog. It is a muscular, hefty dog with a wrinkled face and a distinctive pushed-in nose. The American Kennel Club (AKC), The Kennel Club (UK), and the United Kennel Club (UKC) oversee breeding records. Bulldogs were the fourth most popular purebreed in the US in 2016 according to the American Kennel Club.

In 2009, the school district was rated "academically acceptable" by the Texas Education Agency. [1]

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is a branch of the state government of Texas in the United States responsible for public education. The agency is headquartered in the William B. Travis State Office Building in Downtown Austin. Mike Morath, formerly a member of the Dallas Independent School District's board of trustees, was appointed commissioner of education by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Dec. 14, 2015 and began serving on Jan. 4, 2016.
