The Rice Owls women's basketball team represents Rice University in women's basketball. The school competes in the American Athletic Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Owls play home basketball games at Tudor Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas. [2]
They played in the Southwest Conference from 1982 to 1995 and the Western Athletic Conference from 1996 to 2004 before joining Conference USA in 2005. As of the end of the 2020–21 season, they have a 659–601 all-time record. They were champions of the Women's Basketball Invitational in 2017. [3] [4] They were champions of the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2021. [5]

McDonald Gym, built in 1958, is located on the campus of Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. The building was completely renovated in 2006-07 as part of the $17.8-million, 126,000 sq ft Sheila Umphrey Recreational Center project. The gym's seating capacity was reduced from 4,200 to 500 as part of the renovation. McDonald Gym has been the home of the Lamar Lady Cardinals Volleyball Team since the renovation. The facility was named after the fourth president of Lamar Dr. F.L. McDonald. (1952–1967) The original construction cost estimate in 1957-1958 was $850,000. Chambers Construction Company of Houston, Texas was the main construction contractor. Allco, LLC was the main contractor for the 2006-07 renovation.
The North Star Conference or NSC was a women's conference in the NCAA. The conference existed from the 1983–84 school year through the 1991–92 school year. Originally announced in 1983, the conference was formed by charter members Butler, Dayton, DePaul, Detroit, Evansville, Loyola (Chicago), Notre Dame, and Xavier. Although the conference was to offer competition in cross country, softball, swimming, tennis, and volleyball, the conference was created primarily as a basketball conference. With the exception of Butler and Dayton, all charter members' women's basketball teams were already competing at the NCAA Division I level; Butler and Dayton upgraded their teams from NCAA Division II and commenced competition in the conference's second season. The conference was effectively absorbed by the Mid-Continent Conference, as six of its final seven members moved their women's sports to that organization.
The Illinois Fighting Illini baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate athletic team of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, Illinois, United States. The team competes in the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I and are members of the Big Ten Conference.
The Seattle Redhawks men's basketball team represents Seattle University in NCAA Division I basketball competition. Established in 1946, the team was previously known as the Seattle Chieftains. The program experienced success during the 1950s and 1960s, reaching the NCAA Division I tournament eleven times. Led by Elgin Baylor, Seattle finished as the runner-up in the 1958 NCAA University Division basketball tournament.
The Horizon League men's basketball conference tournament is held annually at the end of the men's college basketball regular season. The tournament has been played each year since 1980. The winner of the tournament is designated the Horizon League Tournament Champion and receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA men's basketball tournament. The finals of the tournament are typically among the first held before the field for the NCAA tournament is announced.
The Cleveland State Vikings women's basketball team represents Cleveland State University in women's basketball. Since 1994, they have been a member of the Horizon League. The Cleveland State women's basketball team was formerly in the North Star Conference (1988–1992) and Mid-Continent Conference (1992–1994). Prior to 1988, the Cleveland State women's basketball team was not affiliated with any conference.
Dick Halterman is a former American collegiate women's basketball coach. He is best known as the head coach of the Oklahoma State Cowgirls basketball program from 1983 to 2001. In 19 seasons as head coach, he posted a 350-244 (.589) record. After his tenure at Oklahoma State, he served as the head coach for the Cameron Aggies women's basketball program from 2002 to 2006.
The Chicago Maroons men's basketball team is an NCAA Division III college basketball team competing in the University Athletic Association. Home games are played at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center, located on the University of Chicago's campus in Chicago.

The Marshall Thundering Herd women's basketball team represents Marshall University in NCAA Division I college basketball competition. They are a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Nicole Levesque (Andres) (born April 11, 1972) is an American former basketball player who played point guard at Wake Forest and for the Charlotte Sting in the WNBA. In 1999, she was named to Sports Illustrated's 50 Greatest Sports Figures from Vermont, and is the only Vermonter to ever play in the WNBA.
The Georgetown–St. John's men's basketball rivalry is a college basketball rivalry between the Georgetown Hoyas men's basketball team of Georgetown University and St. John's Red Storm men's basketball team of St. John's University. The first meeting between the two schools was on December 8, 1909 which was won by St. John's 41-26. The two teams played off and on since that first matchup until 1965, when they began annually scheduled games, and they only intensified when both programs became founding members of the Big East Conference in 1979. The rivalry was brought to national attention during the 1984-85 NCAA Division I men's basketball season when both programs were ranked #1 and #2 throughout the season and met on a total of four occasions, including during the 1985 Big East Championship and the 1985 Final Four.
