The 2006 AFC Champions League Final was a two-legged football tie to determine the 2006 champions of Asian club football. South Korean club Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors defeated Syrian representative Al-Karamah 3–2 on aggregate to take the title. As of 2022, this was the only final of an AFC Champions League involving a Syrian club. The first leg took place on 1 November 2006 at 19:00 local time (UTC+9) at Jeonju World Cup Stadium in Jeonju and the second leg took place on 8 November 2006 at 20:00 local time (UTC+3) at Khaled bin Walid Stadium, Homs.

The 2010–11 Syrian Premier League season is the 40th since its establishment. Al-Jaish are the defending champions, having won their 11th Syrian League title in the previous season for the first time since 2003. The campaign began on 29 October 2010 and will end in May 2011. A total of 14 teams contest the league, 12 of which already contested in the 2009–10 season and two of which were promoted from the League 2nd Division.

Al-Wahda is a professional basketball club. It is a part of the Al-Wahda Sports Club, which is based in Damascus, Syria. The team changed its name in 1972 to the name they use today. It is known for being one of the pillars in the sport not only in the capital Damascus, but in all of Syria. Al-Wahda won the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in 2003.
