Per Richard Herrey (born 1964) [1] is a Swedish artist, politician in the Moderate Party, media personality and restaurant manager.
Richard Herrey won Melodifestivalen in 1984 together with his brothers Per and Louis as the band Herreys, with their song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley". They went on to win the 1984 Eurovision Song Contest in Luxembourg, which was the second win for Sweden.
All three brothers are Mormons. While Richard Herrey is no longer practicing since the 1980s, his brother Louis is a bishop within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. [2]
Richard Herrey was a dancer in the Fame TV series 1982–1983. [3] Herrey acted in the Swedish production of the musicals Grease at the Chinateatern 1991–1992, West Side Story at the National Swedish Touring Theatre 1993, and Hair at Chinateatern 1994. He managed Oscarsteatern 1997–1998 where he also was the producer and director of the 40th anniversary production of West Side Story.
In the 2018 parliament election Herrey was listed as a candidate for the Moderate Party in the Stockholm County constituency [4] where he made it to the list of substitutes but not as a member of the Riksdag. He served as a substitute during the summer of 2019, in December 2020–January 2021 and again from December 2021. In March 2022 Herrey became a regular member of the Riksdag following the resignation of Fredrik Schulte. [5] He is the first Eurovision winner to be a member of the Swedish parliament. [6] He left the Riksdag following the 2022 election. [7]

Since 1971, the Riksdag has been a unicameral legislature with 349 members, elected proportionally and serving, since 1994, fixed four-year terms. The 2022 Swedish general election is the most recent general election.
Elections in Sweden are held once every four years. At the highest level, all 349 members of Riksdag, the national parliament of Sweden, are elected in general elections. Elections to the 20 county councils and 290 municipal assemblies – all using almost the same electoral system – are held concurrently with the legislative elections on the second Sunday in September.

Herreys, sometimes Herrey's or Herrey, is a Swedish pop group, consisting of the three brothers Per Herrey, Richard Herrey, and Louis Herrey. They won the Eurovision Song Contest 1984 with the song "Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley". Richard and Louis Herrey became the first teenage males to win Eurovision and remain the youngest-ever male winners, being 19 years and 260 days and 17 years and 184 days of age, respectively. In 1985, they won the Sopot International Song Festival with "Sommarparty". At the time of their Eurovision win, the brothers were living and working as singers in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. Herreys continued to record and tour for a few years, but had no hits of the same magnitude as the Eurovision winner. They were the first European boyband preceding the international boom a few years later. Herreys was the bestselling pop group in Sweden in the 1980s, and enjoyed enormous success touring and performing in excess of 300 live shows.

"Diggi-Loo Diggi-Ley" is a song recorded by Swedish trio Herreys –brothers Per, Louis, and Richard Herrey–, with music composed by Torgny Söderberg and Swedish lyrics written by Britt Lindeborg. It was produced by Anders Engberg and Torgny Söderberg. It represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1984, held in Luxembourg, winning the contest.

He served as Secretary-General of the Sweden Democrats from 2015 to 2022 and has been a Member of the Riksdag since September 2010. General elections were held in Sweden on 9 September 2018 to elect the 349 members of the Riksdag. Regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The incumbent minority government, consisting of the Social Democrats and the Greens and supported by the Left Party, won 144 seats, one seat more than the four-party Alliance coalition, with the Sweden Democrats winning the remaining 62 seats. The Social Democrats' vote share fell to 28.3 percent, its lowest level of support since 1911.
Sweden participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song "This Is My Life" written by Bobby Ljunggren and Kristian Lagerström. The song was performed by Anna Bergendahl. The Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) organised the national final Melodifestivalen 2010 in order to select the Swedish entry for the 2010 contest in Oslo, Norway. After a six-week-long competition consisting of four heats, a Second Chance round and a final, "This Is My Life" performed by Anna Bergendahl emerged as the winner after achieving the highest score following the combination of votes from six international jury groups, five regional jury groups and a public vote.

Under the constitution, regional and municipal elections were also held on the same day. The preliminary results presented on 15 September showed the government parties lost their majority, which were confirmed by the final results published on 17 September. After a month of negotiations following the elections that led to the Tidö Agreement among the right-wing bloc, Moderate Party (M) leader Ulf Kristersson was elected prime minister on 17 October. The Kristersson Cabinet is a minority government that relies on confidence and supply from the Sweden Democrats (SD).
