Pieper attended Milwaukee Public Schools, finishing high school by correspondence courses with the American School of Correspondence before entering the University of Miami where he was listed as a Who's Who in Colleges and Universities – 1959, Outstanding Young Men of America - 1965.
In 1961 Pieper assumed leadership of Pieper Electric, a Milwaukee electrical service company founded in 1947 by his father Julius Pieper. At the time Pieper Electric employed three electricians and operated from the Pieper home in Milwaukee. By the early 1970s, Pieper had grown the business to include branches in 3 states across the country, then employing 1,100 people; today, there are 2,000 in 8 states. Pieper Electric was rebranded as PIEPERPOWER and the family of companies were united as PPC Partners, Inc. In 2003 Pieper and his family sold the majority interest in PPC Partners, Inc. to the employees. Pieper is now Chairman Emeritus of the Board of the company.
Pieper devotes most of his time to expanding the role of character development in K-12 education school leaders and the model of servant leadership in institutions. In 2006 Pieper started the Wisconsin Character Education Partnership [1] which recognizes schools of character across the state and was instrumental in forging a partnership with Alverno College to offer Wisconsin K-12 school principals a special leadership Academy in Character Education. [2] Pieper received the American Patriot of Character Award [3] from the Character Education Partnership. The award was presented at the 2013 National Forum on Character Education in Washington DC. He is a past recipient of The Bravo Entrepreneur Award for Lifetime Achievement [4] and was presented with the 2009 Lakefront Leadership Award from the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center for his support of Milwaukee's cultural lakefront corridor. [5] Pieper was inducted into the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame honoring him for his civic involvement. [6] He was awarded one of the National Electrical Contractor Association's (NECA) highest honors, the McGraw award, recognizing his contributions to the electrical contracting industry, [7] and a PhD in engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Pieper is Emeritus Director of the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership and was Chairman of the 2021 International Servant Leadership Summit which registered 1,300 participants representing 27 countries and offered 112 virtual sessions.
Pieper is co-founder of the Suzanne and Richard Pieper Family Foundation. The Pieper family is a significant benefactor of Discovery World and sponsor of the Pieper Education Gallery at the Milwaukee Art Museum, [8] as V. P. of Marketing created Gallery Night, out of a problem, for the M.A.M., [8] dealers and the Wisconsin art community as well as the Education Center at the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center. The family has gifted has gifted $2.6 to $2.8 million to establish Servant Leaders Chairs and has funded Pieper Chairs at Milwaukee School of Engineering, [9] the UW Madison College of Engineering [10] and Ripon College in Wisconsin. [11] Pieper currently serves on several boards: Three Harbors Council-Boy Scouts of America, The Milwaukee Boys & Girls Clubs of America, [12] Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin & Upper Michigan, [13] Inc. and The Florentine Opera. [14] Previous board participation includes the Elliot companies in VA, Board of Trustees Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, [15] Junior Achievement of Southeastern Wisconsin, [16] Young Presidents Organization, Wisconsin Council of Economic Education, Wisconsin Diabetes Association, Milwaukee Jaycees, the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Boelter Companies.

The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) is a private university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The 22-acre (8.9 ha) campus is in the East Town neighborhood of downtown Milwaukee. In the fall of 2022, it enrolled 2,575 undergraduate and 154 graduate students. As of fall 2018, the university had a total of 138 full-faculty, more than 33% of which are women. Through eight academic departments, the university offers 16 bachelor's degree programs, 10 of which are in engineering. The university also offers nine master's degrees.

Jack Lowe Jr. was born May 20, 1939, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, the son of Jack Lowe Sr. and his wife Harriet. Lowe Jr. grew up in Dallas and attended Highland Park High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Rice University in Electrical Engineering and served two years in the U.S. Navy before joining TDIndustries in 1964. TDIndustries has been recognized by Fortune Magazine as one of the Best Places to Work repeatedly because of the company's use of the servant-leadership model. The Kern Center is a 210,000-square-foot (19,500 m2) athletics and fitness facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is home to many sports at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, including ice hockey, wrestling, men's and women's basketball and volleyball. The building is named for Robert and Patricia Kern, the center's major benefactors. The financial support for the facility's land was given by Eckhart and Ischi Grohmann.

Freed is professor emeritus of business management and recipient of the Mark and Kay DeCook Endowed Chair in Leadership and Character Development at Central College in Pella, Iowa where she had a 30-year career. The Chicago Lighting Institute opened on April 11, 1930 as an educational and marketing association for the lighting industry in the Midwest. Supported by five full corporate members and fifty associate corporate members, it sought to acquaint architects, interior designers, electrical engineers, urban planners and the general public with the latest developments and applications in lighting. It was the largest cooperative Institute fostering better lighting practices in the United States and, as such, was the pioneer U.S. institution promoting appropriate use of light in the earlier years of the lighting industry. In 1968, after 38 years of service, the Institute merged with the Chicago Electric Association.

He is currently an Executive Director in the Social Impact and Education practice at Russell Reynolds Associates and based in Washington, D.C. He also serves as the Chair of the Board of Advocates for the Boren College of International Studies at the University of Oklahoma and is a member of the Beloit College Board of Trustees.
