Richard William Sladdin (born 8 January 1969) is an English former cricketer who played for Derbyshire from 1991 to 1994 and for Somerset in 1997. He was born in Halifax,Yorkshire.
In 2017,Sladdin was convicted of the sexual grooming of a fourteen year old girl and sentenced to one year in prison. [1]
The most important spinner within the Derbyshire lineup in the early part of the 1990s,[ citation needed ] he debuted in a draw against Yorkshire in July 1991,as Derbyshire finished in third position in the season's table. A common fixture until the middle of the 1994 season,his career was quickly over,as he hit zero wickets for 190 runs,the single worst bowling figures in the history of Derbyshire County Cricket Club.
Prior to the end of his career,he played briefly in the 1997 season,for Somerset,though his career finished there. He was a right-handed batsman and a left-arm slow bowler. He hit five wickets in an inning twice in his career,including once in his sole first-class game for Somerset.
Sladdin used an internet dating site to arrange a meeting with someone he thought was a girl of 14 called 'Claire'. But he was unmasked when he turned up at a car park 30 miles from home with a packet of crisps,an alcoholic drink and a box of condoms - only to be confronted by a man who showed him his incriminating messages.
Self-proclaimed paedophile hunters filmed the encounter in Leigh,Greater Manchester,on a mobile and the video went viral with more than two million views. He was jailed for 12 months at Bolton Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to sexual grooming and attempting to meet a girl under the age of 16.
Andrew Richard Caddick is a former cricketer who played for England as a fast bowler in Tests and ODIs. At 6 ft 5in,Caddick was a successful bowler for England for a decade,taking 13 five-wicket hauls in Test matches. He spent his entire English domestic first-class cricket career at Somerset County Cricket Club,and then played one Minor Counties match for Wiltshire in 2009.

Samuel Moses James Woods was an Australian sportsman who represented both Australia and England at Test cricket,and appeared thirteen times for England at rugby union,including five times as captain. Ian Joseph Harvey is a former Australian cricketer. He was an all-rounder who played 73 One Day Internationals for Australia and was named as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year for 2004 for his performances in county cricket. He was a part of the Australian squad which won the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

Cork was a right-handed lower-order batsman who bowled right-arm fast-medium,and was renowned for his swing and seam control. In 1995,he took the best figures for an England bowler on Test debut,with 7 for 43 in the second innings against the West Indies.
Neil Alan Mallender is a former English cricketer. Born in Kirk Sandall,Yorkshire,Mallender was a right-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-hand lower order batsman who improved as his career progressed. He played first-class cricket in England for Northamptonshire and for Somerset (1987–1994). He also played for Otago,captaining the side in 1990–91 and 1991–92.
Lionel Charles Hamilton Palairet was an English amateur cricketer who played for Somerset and Oxford University. A graceful right-handed batsman,he was selected to play Test cricket for England twice in 1902. Contemporaries judged Palairet to have one of the most attractive batting styles of the period. His obituary in The Times described him as "the most beautiful batsman of all time". An unwillingness to tour during the English winter limited Palairet's Test appearances;contemporaries believed he deserved more Test caps.

Michael Burns is an English first-class list cricket umpire and former first-class cricketer who played county cricket for Warwickshire and Somerset in a first-class career which spanned from 1992 until 2005. He also played Minor Counties cricket for Cumberland and Cornwall. An adaptable cricketer,he appeared for Cumberland and Warwickshire as a wicket-keeper,but when he moved to Somerset he developed into an aggressive batsman who bowled at medium-pace when needed.
Steven Kirby is an English retired first-class cricketer,and more recently a cricket coach. Kirby played for Yorkshire,Gloucestershire and Somerset,before retiring from playing in 2014. In 2020,he rejoined Somerset as their bowling coach.
Edward Stephen Massey Poyntz was an English first-class cricketer,who played for Somerset in the early twentieth century. An amateur,Poyntz was an aggressive right-handed batsman. He generally played as part of the middle order,and though his batting was not exceptional,he was highly praised for his fielding ability. He captained Somerset in the two years prior to the First World War.
Edmund Fallowfield Longrigg,usually known as Bunty Longrigg,played cricket for Somerset and Cambridge University. He was captain of Somerset from 1938 to 1946 and later prominent in the county club administration. He was born at Batheaston,Somerset and died at Bath,Somerset.

Malcolm Douglas Lyon,generally known as Dar Lyon was an English first-class cricketer who played for Somerset County Cricket Club through the 1920s. He was a right-handed top order batsman known for his beautiful driving who occasionally captained and kept wicket for the county.

Mathew Dimond is a former English cricketer who made played for Somerset County Cricket Club between 1994 and 1997. Early in his career,he toured the West Indies with the England Under-19 cricket team,playing three Tests and one One Day International at Under-19 level.
