Riley Madison Tanner Rintala (born 15 October 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a forward for USL Super League club Spokane Zephyr FC. Born in the United States, she represents Panama at international level. [3]
Tanner played college soccer at the University of South Carolina and the University of Alabama, where she earned a Master of Public Health in 2022. [4]
After graduating college, she was chosen in the third round of the 2023 NWSL Draft by the Washington Spirit. [5] On April 8, 2024, she was waived by the Spirit. [6]
Tanner was signed by Spokane Zephyr in June 2024, ahead of the inaugural USL Super League season. [7]
Although Tanner was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was eligible to play for Panama as her mother was born in Panama City. [8]
On January 26, 2023, Tanner was announced as part of a 23-player Panama squad for the Women's World Cup inter-confederation play-offs. [9] In the first play-off match against Papua New Guinea on February 19, Tanner scored in the 63rd minute after coming off the bench to help Panama win 2–0. [10]
