Rinoa was an English post-metal group, formed in Essex in 2007. Their line-up consisted of vocalist Perry Bryan, guitarists Matthew Holden and Jozef Norocky, bassist David Gumbleton and drummer James May. The band split in November 2010, with most of their members going on to different musical projects.

History

Rinoa was formed in Essex in 2007, following the break-up of the members' previous bands, Crydebris, Chariots and Symmetry. [4] [5] They named themselves after Rinoa Heartilly, a character from the video game Final Fantasy VIII. [6]

The band released their self-titled EP, Rinoa, in 2008. [7] This was followed with a split EP with Bossk, released in 2009. [8] The band performed at Damnation Festival later that same year. [9] Their debut full-length, An Age Among Them, was released in 2010 to positive reviews, [2] [4] including being named one of the best albums of 2010 by Rock Sound . [10]

In October 2010 Rinoa announced their intention to split at the end of their headline UK tour [11] and played their last ever show in Bristol in November. [12]

Following their split James May joined dubstep group Tek-One, [13] and Jozef Norocky joined London band Devil Sold His Soul, with Matthew Holden and David Gumbleton joining a new supergroup called Ancients. [14]

The band released their second studio album Blessed & Cursed on 18 June, 2010. On 8 August, 2010, they played at the Hevy Music Festival held near Folkestone, Kent, before embarking on a UK tour with Architects. In January, 2011, the band announced that bassist Iain Trotter has left the band to pursue a career outside music. He was replaced by Jozef Norocky, former guitarist of Rinoa. In mid-March, 2013, Ed Gibbs announced that he would be leaving the band to also pursue a career outside the band after the upcoming music festivals were over. In April, Paul Green, one of the two vocalists of The Arusha Accord, replaced him as the band's vocalist. Devil Sold His Soul signed a deal with Basick at the end of 2013, coinciding with the release of a music video for their single "Time".

Torche / Part Chimp is a split EP between the American metal band Torche and British rock band Part Chimp. The album was released on November 5, 2011, through Chunklet Industries—a date which coincided with a tour of the eastern United States featuring both bands. The vinyl edition of the album was limited to 500 copies. Torche's side of the record features three cover songs of the American indie rock band Guided by Voices, and Part Chimp's side features two newly recorded songs. Part Chimp's songs are also some of the final tracks they recorded before disbanding.

Death Is Birth is an EP released by the British hardcore punk band Gallows, released 5 December 2011 through Thirty Days of Night Records. It is the band's first release with singer Wade MacNeil, formerly of Alexisonfire, who replaced original Gallows singer Frank Carter when the latter left the band in July 2011. The EP was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Joby J. Ford of The Bronx. It includes a re-recording of the track "True Colours", previously released as a free download in August 2011.

Wishful Thinking is the debut studio album by the Welsh pop punk band Neck Deep. Vocalist Ben Barlow met guitarist Lloyd Roberts when Roberts was working with Barlow's brother, Seb. Following the upload of a song under the artist name Neck Deep, the song gained attention. This attention resulted in the duo obtaining guitarist Matt West, drummer Dani Washington and bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans. The band released two EPs, Rain in July (2012) and A History of Bad Decisions. In March 2013 the band started recording material at Celestial Recordings in Wrexham, where they began recording guitar, bass and vocals. The group then moved to Outhouse Studio in Reading, where they recorded drums. Material was produced by Seb Barlow and the band. In mid-August, the group had signed to Hopeless, and by late August, they announced the album had been finished.
