The Rishon Devils is an ice hockey team from Rishon LeZion, Israel. The team plays in the Israeli League, the top level of ice hockey in the country.

History

The team was founded in 2010 by the Rishon Devils Hockey Club that until that year played only inline hockey and joined the Israeli League in 2011. The team won their first Israeli championship at 2013, in its 2nd season in the Israeli League and were able to defend in the following season.

The Montreal Junior Hockey Club was a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The team was based out of the Verdun Auditorium, in Verdun, Quebec, Canada. The St. John's Fog Devils franchise relocated at the conclusion of the 2007–08 QMJHL season. The team's colours were maroon and white, similar to the Montreal Maroons. The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League approved the sale of the Juniors to a group led by former NHL Defensemen Joel Bouchard who moved the team to Boisbriand, Quebec for the 2011–12 season. The team plays its games at the Centre d'Excellence Sports Rousseau and is known as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Dunedin Thunder

The Dunedin Thunder, currently the Phoenix Thunder for sponsorship reasons, is an ice hockey team based in Dunedin, New Zealand and are members of the New Zealand Ice Hockey League. The club plays their home games at the Dunedin Ice Stadium. The Thunder were founded in 2008 and joined the league as an expansion team. The clubs won their first regular season title in 2013 and have finished as runner-up in the playoffs in 2013 and 2014, losing on both occasions to the Canterbury Red Devils.

2012–13 EIHL season Sports season

The 2012–13 Elite Ice Hockey League season was the tenth season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season began on Saturday 8 September 2012 and ended on Sunday 24 March 2013, followed by the Play-Offs which culminated in the end-of-season Play-Off Finals on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 April 2013.

The 2012–13 Israeli Hockey League season was the 22nd season of the Israeli Hockey League, the top level of ice hockey in Israel. Seven teams participated in the league, and the Rishon Devils won the championship.

Ice hockey in Israel

Ice Hockey in Israel is a minor sport. Until the construction of the new arena in Holon, many Israeli hockey players were members of the Canada Israel Hockey School housed at the Canada Centre in Metulla, Israel. Lately, a vast number of new hockey team (/clubs) has been created in the 'center' of Israel, most of them based on roller-hockey players, or young players who started their career in the Holon ice arena.

The 2013–14 Israeli Hockey League season was the 23rd season of the Israeli Hockey League, the top level of ice hockey in Israel. Eight teams participated in the league, and the Rishon Devils won the championship for the 2nd time in a row.

Ligat Ha'Al is the top Israeli professional handball league. The league is sponsored by Winner Corporation since 2010 and known also as Ligat Winner. Founded in 1954, the league currently consists of 12 teams and managed by the Israel Handball Association. Maccabi Rehovot was the first team to win the championship, while Hapoel Rishon Lezion is most successful club with 18 titles over the years. The league games are broadcast by Sport 5 channel.

HC Bat Yam

HC Bat Yam is an Israeli ice hockey team based in Bat Yam and compete in the Israeli League. HC Bat Yam was founded in 1992 and won their first league title in 1995. In 2010 the club qualified for their first IIHF Continental Cup however were knocked out in the first round without winning a game. HC Bat Yam won their second title in 2016 and as a result qualified for the 2016–17 IIHF Continental Cup.

The 2017–18 EIHL season was the 15th season of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The regular season commenced on 9 September 2017 and ended on 25 March 2018. The reigning league champions were the Cardiff Devils, who won the championship for the first time in 2016–17. The Devils retained their regular season title, with a 3–2 victory away at the Belfast Giants on 16 March 2018. The Devils also won the playoff title, beating the Sheffield Steelers – who had defeated the Devils 12 months prior in a 6–5 double overtime game – 3–1 in the final, winning a first playoff title since 1998–99.

The 2017–18 Israeli League season will be the 27th season of ice hockey in Israel and 6th season of Top League. Rishon Devils are the current champions, after winning the 2016-17 Israeli Hockey League season. Holon Ninjas were promoted from the second division and are playing in the top division of Israel Hockey for the very first time.

Jack Hughes is an American professional ice hockey center for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). A product of the U.S. National Development Team, Hughes was drafted first overall by the Devils in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, a draft in which he was widely regarded as the top prospect.

Abbotsford Canucks American Hockey League team in Abbotsford, British Columbia

The Abbotsford Canucks are a professional ice hockey team based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, and members of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team began play in the 2021–22 season with home games at Abbotsford Centre as the AHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks. The team is a relocation of the franchise owned by the Canucks and known as the Utica Comets from 2013 to 2021. This is the second AHL team to play in Abbotsford after the Calgary Flames affiliate Abbotsford Heat from 2009 until 2014.
