River Hill High School is a public high school in Clarksville, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Howard County Public School System.
River Hill High School was awarded a "gold medal" by U.S. News & World Report. [1] It was recognized by BusinessWeek as having the "Best Overall Academic Performance" in Maryland. [2] It was also ranked 4th of 225 High Schools in the State of Maryland as of 2018. [3]
It was rated the 165th best school in the nation by US News in 2013. [4]
River Hill High School opened in 1996. The school population peaked in 2002 with 1,755 students, but has steadily decreased with the opening of several other local high schools in Howard County to ease the population strain on existing schools.

River Hill was named by the U.S. Department of Education a National Blue Ribbon School in 2007, one of only 40 high schools to receive that honor. [6]
It is the home of Alliance Rocket, co-winners of the SPHERES Challenge 2011 Championship on the International Space Station. [7]

Clarksville is an unincorporated community in Howard County, Maryland; the second highest-earning county in the United States according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The community is named for William Clark, a farmer who owned much of the land on which the community now lies and served as a postal stop that opened on the 4th of July 1851.
Arthur Pue Gorman was an American politician. He was leader of the Gorman-Rasin organization with Isaac Freeman Rasin that controlled the Maryland Democratic Party from the late 1870s until his death in 1906. Gorman served as United States Senator from Maryland from 1881 to 1899 and again from 1903 until his death. He was a prominent leader of the Bourbon Democrat faction of the Democratic Party. Gorman was Chairman of the Democratic National Committee during Grover Cleveland's 1884 presidential campaign and he is widely credited with securing Cleveland's victory. In 1952 Gorman was described in The Baltimore Sun as "easily the most powerful political figure [Maryland] has ever known."
Centennial High School is a secondary school in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States, that opened in 1977. The school is based in Howard County and is part of the Howard County Public Schools system. The school is named after its road frontage on Centennial Lane, built in 1876 as a shortcut through Denton Hammond's slave plantation Burleigh Manor between Clarksville and Ellicott City.

Reservoir High School is a public high school in Fulton, Maryland, United States. It was opened in 2002 and is a part of the Howard County Public School System. The school is named for its proximity to the Rocky Gorge Reservoir. The school's mascot "Gators" was selected by vote in 2001, with school colors of Orange and Blue. The logo and fight song were the same as those of the University of Florida. In 2010, a cease and desist order was issued by the University, forcing the school to create a new logo.

A new school was built on the same grounds, and opened in January 2017. The Falcons are sports rivals with nearby Broadneck High School.
