The River Orrin is a river in former Ross-shire, Highland, northern Scotland. The River Orrin is dammed in Glen Orrin making the Orrin Reservoir. It later forms the Falls of Orrin, is joined by the tributary Allt Goibhre, and then enters the River Conon near Urray shortly before it flows past Conon Bridge into the Cromarty Firth. [1]
The river gives its name to the aircraft in the 1985 British Airtours Flight 28M accident in which 55 passengers and crew perished at Manchester Airport.
Conon is a small but prominent lunar impact crater that lies in the eastern foothills of the Montes Apenninus mountain range. The crater is named for the Greek astronomer Conon of Samos. Just to the west of Conon is the long mountainous ridge Mons Bradley. The nearest craters possessing an eponym are Galen, about 70 kilometres (43 mi) to the east, and Aratus, about the same distance to the northeast.
The Black Isle is a peninsula within Ross and Cromarty, in the Scottish Highlands. It includes the towns of Cromarty and Fortrose, and the villages of Culbokie, Resolis, Jemimaville, Rosemarkie, Avoch, Munlochy, Tore, and North Kessock, as well as numerous smaller settlements. About 12,000 people live on the Black Isle, depending on the definition.
Prophet River Wayside Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It is located along the Prophet River, by the Alaska Highway, between the localities of Trutch and Prophet River. Originally created as a Provincial Recreation Area in 1977 with an area of 707 acres (2.86 km2), it was designated a provincial park in 1999 with an area of 111 hectares.
Sgurr a' Choire Ghlais is a mountain in the North-west Highlands of Scotland. It lies between Glen Strathfarrar and Glen Orrin and it is an excellent viewpoint, being the highest mountain in its group - a group which includes the Munros of Sgurr na Ruaidhe, Sgurr Fhuar-thuill and Carn nan Gobhar. Northwards there is no higher ground apart from the Fannichs.
