Oral Roberts University (ORU) is a private evangelical university in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Founded in 1963, the university is named after its founder, evangelist Oral Roberts.

Daniel Ricardo Manning is an American college basketball coach and former professional player who is the interim head coach for the Maryland Terrapins. Kyle Donovan Weaver is an American former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for Washington State University, and was drafted 38th overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2008 NBA draft. Weaver, a 6'6" shooting guard-small forward, was born in Beloit, Wisconsin. His father, LaMont Weaver, played collegiate basketball at the University of Wisconsin.
Robert Anthony Vaden is an American former professional basketball player. Previously he played for the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. Vaden played college basketball with the Indiana Hoosiers and the UAB Blazers for two years each. After four years in college, he was drafted by the Charlotte Bobcats with the 54th pick in the 2009 NBA draft. After the draft, his draft rights were immediately traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Thunder did not sign him to a contract. As a result, he went on to play in Italy, Slovakia and in the NBA Development League with the Tulsa 66ers, the D-League team affiliated with the Thunder.

Kenneth Franklin Trickey Sr. was an American basketball coach, best known for his two stints as the head coach for the men's basketball team at Oral Roberts University (ORU) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was especially remembered for ORU's high-scoring "run and gun" teams of the early 1970s, which helped the young, small school attain national attention and competitive success, including a spot in the Elite Eight in the 1974 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. After his death in 2012, the Tulsa World called him "one of the most influential and colorful characters in this state’s basketball history".

Anthony Jones is an American former basketball player. He attended Lawton High School in Lawton, Oklahoma, and played basketball for two seasons with the Connors State Cowboys. Jones attempted to transfer to Oklahoma State University but failed to graduate from Connors State and was academically ineligible. He instead played eight games with the Union College Bulldogs in 1989. Jones then transferred to play for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles to play for head coach Ken Trickey, who had attempted to recruit Jones since high school. He sat out the 1989–90 season to concentrate on his academics and made his debut for the Golden Eagles during his senior season in 1990–91.
