Waikerie is a rural town in the Riverland region of South Australia on the south bank of the Murray River. At the 2016 census, Waikerie had a population of 2,684. The Sturt Highway passes to the south of the town at the top of the cliffs. There is a cable ferry crossing the river to provide vehicle access from the north side of the river. Jim McDowell is a lawyer and defence sector businessman based in South Australia. He is the Chief Executive Officer of Nova Systems; a global engineering services and technology solutions company. Prior to joining Nova Systems in November 2020, McDowell was the Chief Executive of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet of the Government of South Australia. He is a former CEO of BAE Systems Australia and BAE Systems Saudi Arabia.
Courtney Cramey is a former Australian rules footballer who played 20 matches over four seasons at the Adelaide Football Club in the AFL Women's competition. She was a two-time premiership player and a one-time All-Australian.
