Rob Shaw is an American film director, television director, commercial and music video director, and animator. [1] He is a graduate of University of the Arts (Philadelphia).

Career

In 2006, Rob Shaw joined the animation studio Bent Image Lab, [2] Portland, Oregon, where he began directing commercials, music videos, internet projects, and eventually long and short form television.

In 2007, he directed the music video for the song "I'm Impressed," [3] the debut single from the album "The Else" by the band They Might Be Giants. The video won a Gold Plaque at the 2008 Chicago International Film Festival (Television Section, Hugo Awards).

In 2008, Shaw directed a second music video for They Might Be Giants for the song "Computer Aided Design". Also in 2008, Shaw was principal director on a series of Bessie Award winning internet shorts for the British Columbia Dairy Association's campaign "Must Drink More Milk."

In 2012, Shaw created the animation Noon Moons for the Experimental Sound Studio, with a soundtrack by Terri Kapsalis and The Eternals. [4]

In 2014, Shaw directed Polariffic, an animated children's television special produced for Hallmark Channel by Bent Image Lab.

Awards

The Machine - A modern-day cautionary fable about humans and machines, won Best Animated Short from the 2010 Atlanta Film Festival. [5] The film made its world premiere in the 2009 Anima Mundi [6] festival in Brazil.

Portlandia (TV series) "Rats" stop-motion segments for Independent Film Channel - “Best Television Program for Adults” 2012 Ottawa International Animation Festival. [7]

Polariffic - Hallmark Channel animated children's television special nominated for a 2015 Annie Awards [8] for Best Animated Special.

The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa, often simply referred to as Timon & Pumbaa, is an American animated buddy comedy television series created by Walt Disney Television Animation. Kimya Dawson American folk singer-songwriter

Kimya Dawson is an American folk singer-songwriter, best known as one half of the anti-folk duo the Moldy Peaches. Dawson's work with the Moldy Peaches earned them a cult following and critical acclaim, with their 2001 song "Anyone Else But You" landing a spot in multiple acclaimed indie film soundtracks. "Anyone Else But You" as performed by Michael Cera and Elliot Page charted on the Billboard Hot 100 after its prominent inclusion in the 2007 film Juno, the soundtrack of which includes several songs by Dawson and their associated musical acts. The song remains Dawson's highest charting single to date. In addition to their work with the Moldy Peaches, Dawson has released seven solo studio albums and collaborated with various other artists from a diverse range of genres, including Aesop Rock, They Might Be Giants, The Mountain Goats, and Third Eye Blind.

Fred Seibert American media entrepreneur

Frederick Seibert is an American television producer, co-founder of MTV and the CEO of FredFilms, an animation production company based in Burbank, California. He has held leading positions with MTV Networks, Hanna-Barbera, Next New Networks, and Frederator Studios and Networks. Seibert is an angel investor in several technology and media start-ups, has produced live action and animated programs for cable television and the internet, and began his professional career as a jazz and blues record producer. Hoops & Yoyo Animated characters

Hoops & Yoyo are a pair of animated characters featured on Hallmark Cards. The characters were created by Bob Holt and Mike Adair on September 11, 2003, who also voice the duo. The characters had a website that features E-cards, animated episodes, an "Ask hoops & yoyo" section, desktop and phone wallpapers, audio snippets, IM icons, fan photos, interactive monthly calendars, a blog, a podcast, games, and merchandise available for purchase. The story lines center around two main characters: Hoops, a pink cat, and Yoyo, a green rabbit, and also feature a few other humorous characters joining them. Hoops and Yoyo tend to get overexcited and commonly start yelling or talking really fast. They both love coffee, cookies, and any treat. They're always happy, and always try to have fun no matter what happens.

Soul Music is a seven-part animated television adaptation of the 1994 book of the same name by Terry Pratchett, produced by Channel 4 Television Corporation/Cosgrove Hall Films/ITEL/Ventureworld Films and distributed by Channel 4 Television Corporation (1996) (UK) (TV) & Vision Video (2001) (UK) (DVD). It was first broadcast on 28 December 1998 and released on DVD in 2001 alongside Wyrd Sisters in a box set entitled "Soul Music". The feature-length miniseries was developed by Acorn Media, and directed by Jean Flynn. It was the first film adaptation of an entire Discworld novel. The series soundtrack was also released on CD, but the disc is now out of production. The soundtrack is, however, now available through iTunes. Editz did the title sequences, Flix Facilities did the digital picture editing, and Hullabaloo Studios did the audio post-production.

Chel White American film director

Chel White is an American film director, composer, screenwriter, visual effects supervisor and a Rockefeller Fellow. In his independent films and music videos, White is known for his stylized, often experimental use of images, animation and first-person narratives told from the perspective of the estranged individual. He often adopts darkly humorous and poetic sensibilities to depict the human experience, exploring topics of love, obsession, alienation and dreams. He describes his own work as “stories and images that reside on the brink of dreams, or linger on the periphery of distorted memories.” He has made three films based on the work of Peabody Award-winning radio personality and writer Joe Frank.

BENT IMAGE LAB is a production company and animation studio specializing in story development, television, commercials, visual effects, music videos, short films, experimental techniques and tech development in augmented reality (AR). Located in Portland, Oregon, the company was founded in 2002 by partners David Daniels, Ray Di Carlo, and Chel White. Director Rob Shaw joined the company in 2006.

Jingle All the Way is a 2011 American stop motion animated children's television special produced for Hallmark Channel, directed by Chel White and produced at Bent Image Lab. The show is inspired by Hallmark Cards' 2010 stuffed toy Jingle the Husky Pup and its accompanying interactive storybook, Jingle All the Way. The special premiered on the Hallmark Channel on November 25, 2011.

Spirit World Field Guide is the eighth studio album by American hip hop artist Aesop Rock. It was released on November 13, 2020, through Rhymesayers Entertainment. It acts as a "guide" to the Spirit World. The album was preceded by two singles: "The Gates" released on September 9, and "Pizza Alley" released on October 16, 2020. Both were released with music videos directed by Rob Shaw and featuring animation from Justin "Coro" Kaufman, who also designed the album's cover art. A third single and music video, "Coveralls", was released on November 13 alongside the album.

Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular is a 2003 Canadian computer-animated Halloween comedy film based on the Scary Godmother series of books by Jill Thompson, specifically a community theater stage production of the first book. The special depicts Hannah, while trick-or-treating with her cousin Jimmy and his friends, encountering the titular witch and her many friends for a Halloween party at the Fright Side. It stars Canadian voice actors Tabitha St. Germain, Britt McKillip, Garry Chalk, Noel Callahan, Alex Doduk, Brittney Irvine, Danny McKinnon, Scott McNeil and Adam Pospisil. It was directed by Zeke Norton and produced by Kevin Gamble and Sharan Wood with heavy involvement by Thompson.
