Robert Alexander (priest)

Robert Alexander (b. 19 June 1788, d. 31 July 1840) was an Anglican priest in Ireland during the 19th century. [1]

The fifth child and second son of Bishop Nathaniel Alexander, [2] he was educated at Trinity College Dublin. [3] He was Archdeacon of Down [4] from 1814 until 1828. [5]

His daughter Charlotte Melosina Elizabeth Alexander (ca. 1829–1900) died unmarried at Liscar, Amersham in March 1900. [6]

He began his ministry with curacies at St John’s, Dublin and All Saints, Aghade, and St Nicholas, Dundalk and Kilmore Cathedral. In 1912 he became Rector of Sligo and in 1917 appointed Dean of Tuam. In 1923 he became Bishop of Tuam and in 1927 was translated to Meath. He died in post on 21 July 1938

Thomas Elrington was an Irish academic and bishop. He was Donegall Lecturer in Mathematics (1790-1795) at Trinity College Dublin (TCD).
