Robert Cameron Orr, Ph.D. formerly served as the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Strategic Planning [1] in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General. He is currently the Dean of the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
Prior to joining the UN, Orr served as the executive director of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Before that, he was Director of the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. and is still a current member. [2]
Orr was a co-director of a bipartisan commission on post-conflict reconstruction sponsored by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington and the Association of the United States Army between 2001 and 2003.
Between 1996 and 2001, Orr held a variety of senior positions in the Government of the United States. He served as Deputy to the United States Ambassador to the United Nations and Director of the USUN Washington office. In this capacity, he played an active role in securing a delayed payment of nearly $1 billion of the US membership fees to the United Nations. He was also Director of Global and Multilateral Affairs at the National Security Council, in charge of peacekeeping and humanitarian affairs.
Before working for the US government, Orr served at the International Peace Academy in New York and at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Nairobi, Kenya.
Orr holds a Ph.D. and M.P.A. in international relations from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University, and a bachelor's degree from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). He speaks Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
In 2000 he married Audrey Choi, then chief-of-staff to the Council of Economic Advisers and the daughter of children's author Sook Nyul Choi. [3]

He is the former director of Columbia Global Policy Initiative. He co-directs the Center on Global Governance at Columbia Law School.
Shirin R. Tahir-Kheli is an American political scientist who also served in the Department of State. In 2006, she was appointed as the first Ambassador for women's empowerment by the United States Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as well as Senior Advisor to the Secretary of State on United Nations Reform. She was sworn in as the First American Muslim Ambassador in July 1990. Dr. Tahir-Kheli was the Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Democracy, Human Rights and International Operations at the White House National Security Council, from 2003-2005. She has served three Republican presidential administrations since 1980.
Danuta Maria Hübner, née Młynarska is a Polish politician and Diplomat and Economist and Member of the European Parliament. She has served as European Commissioner for Regional Policy from 22 November 2004 until 4 July 2009, when she resigned to become a Member of European Parliament for the Civic Platform. In 2012, Professor Hübner became a member of the International Honorary Council of the European Academy of Diplomacy.

Esther Diane Brimmer is an American foreign policy expert and former Assistant Secretary of State for International Organization Affairs. In June 2013, she left her post as Assistant Secretary and returned to academia.
Karl Frederick Inderfurth is an American diplomat. He was the Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs from August 1997 to January 2001. In his capacity as Assistant Secretary, Inderfurth was responsible for US policy regarding Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Prior to his appointment as Assistant Secretary, Inderfurth served as the U.S. Representative for Special Political Affairs to the United Nations, with the rank of Ambassador. In this capacity, Ambassador Inderfurth dealt with issues such as UN peacekeeping, disarmament, nuclear proliferation and security affairs. Ambassador Inderfurth also served as Deputy U.S. Representative on the United Nations Security Council.
Sven Alkalaj is a Bosnian diplomat who has served as Bosnia and Herzegovina ambassador to the United States since June 2023. He previously served as the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Nations from 2019 to 2023. Alkalaj also served as the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2007 until 2012. He held the post of executive secretary of UNECE between 2012 and 2014 as well.

Jacques Paul Klein is a retired United States diplomat, who served as head of three United Nations peacekeeping missions: the United Nations Transitional Administration for Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES) from January 17, 1996, to August 1, 1997, the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNMIBH) from July 16, 1999, to December 31, 2002, and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) from July 17, 2003, to July 20, 2005.
