Robert Lethbridge (politician)

Robert Lethbridge was an Australian politician.

He was a navy captain, and married Mary Luxmore in 1822, after which he migrated to New South Wales to breed merino sheep. He acquired extensive pastoral land in the colony. From 1856 to 1857 he was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council. [1]

Cook and Westmoreland was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of New South Wales in the first and second Parliaments (1856–1859), named after Cook and Westmoreland counties in the Blue Mountains, Lithgow and Oberon areas. A by-election was held for the New South Wales Legislative Assembly electorate of Corowa on 9 November 1946 because of the resignation of Christopher Lethbridge (Independent), to contest the federal seat of Riverina at the 1946 election as a Liberal candidate, however he was unsuccessful. Lethbridge then nominated as a Liberal candidate to regain the seat.
