Robert M. Benedict (born August 8,1950) is an American author,business owner and former politician from Minnesota,and at that time,a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party. He published his first book in 1972 and entered the political scene a year later.
Benedict graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1972. [1]
In 1973,he was the National Director of the Center for Improved Child Nutrition. While in the position,he was brought to speak in favor of increasing the quality and size of school lunches in public schools by the Select Committee on Nutrition and Human Needs. [2] [3]
Benedict was elected mayor of Bloomington,Minnesota at the age of 23 and served in that capacity from 1974 to 1977. He was elected three times during that period,but resigned midway through his third term to represent district 38 in Hennepin County in the Minnesota State Senate. He served from 1977 to 1981. At that time,he was the youngest person ever to enter the state senate,being just 26 when he was elected.
In 1984,Benedict founded Benedict Negotiating Seminars and has served as president ever since. [4] He has written multiple books,such as The Possible Dream,Negotiating in the real world of publishing and engineering,The Freedom Account,and Happiness doesn't just happen,published in 1972,1989,2015 and 2019 respectively. The Minnesota Senate is the upper house of the Legislature of the U.S. state of Minnesota. At 67 members,half as many as the Minnesota House of Representatives,it is the largest upper house of any U.S. state legislature. Floor sessions are held in the west wing of the State Capitol in Saint Paul. Committee hearings,as well as offices for senators and staff,are located north of the State Capitol in the Minnesota Senate Building. Each member of the Minnesota Senate represents approximately 80,000 constituents.

Herman Eugene Talmadge was an American politician who served as governor of Georgia in 1947 and from 1948 to 1955 and as a U.S. senator from Georgia from 1957 to 1981. A Democrat,Talmadge served during a time of political transition,both in Georgia and nationally. He began his career as a staunch segregationist known for his opposition to civil rights,including supporting legislation that would have closed public schools to prevent desegregation. By the later stages of his career,following the enactment of the Voting Rights Act,which gave substance to the Fifteenth Amendment enacted nearly one hundred years before,and increased African American voter participation,Talmadge,like many other Southern politicians of that period,had modified his views on race. His life eventually encapsulated the emergence of his native Georgia from entrenched white supremacy into a multiracial political culture where many white voters regularly elect Black and other non-white candidates to the U.S. Congress and Georgia General Assembly.
James George Abourezk was an American attorney and politician from South Dakota. A member of the Democratic Party,he served in both chambers of the United States Congress for one term each;a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1971 to 1973 and a member of the United States Senate from 1973 to 1979;he was the first Arab to serve in the United States Senate. In 1980,Abourezk founded the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) with the goal of counteracting anti-Arab racism in the country. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War,but was also a critic of United States foreign policy in the Middle East,particularly with regard to the Arab–Israeli conflict. Under his leadership,the ADC became especially active following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait and the subsequent Gulf War,during which he became concerned about the rising rate of targeted hate crimes against Arabs and also against people misidentified as Arabs.

A member of the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL),Dibble represents District 61,which includes parts of Minneapolis in Hennepin County. From 2001 to 2003,he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Carl Arthur Jensen was a Minnesota politician,attorney,and veteran. Jensen served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and the Minnesota Senate representing part of southwestern Minnesota during the 1950s until the 1980s. Jensen was a member of the Republican Party who later switched to become a Democrat at the end of his life.

Linda Lee Berglin is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 61,which includes portions of the city of Minneapolis in Hennepin County,which is in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. A Democrat,she was first elected to the Senate in 1980,and was re-elected in each election until she resigned on August 15,2011,to take a position with Hennepin County. Prior to the 1982 and 1992 redistricting,the area was known as District 59 and District 60,respectively.
