Robin Chatterjee was an Indian music director and sound recordist who scored music for about ninety films. Starting from the 1942 film Parineeta , he has composed music for evergreen soundtracks such as Godhuli , Bipasha , Sagarika, Kamallata, Dwiper Nam Tiya Rang, etc. [2] [3]

Career

In 1955, he composed music for the film Godhuli which contained a song "Piya Piya Piya Ke Dake Amare". In 1957, he composed music for Uttam-Suchitra starrer superhit Sagarika. In that film, Shyamal Mitra sang "Amar Swapne dekha Rajkanya". [4]

He won the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Award for best supporting actor for his performance in the Mrinal Sen directed film Aamar Bhuvan. He was awarded Girish Purashkar 2023 by the Cultural Department of the Government of West Bengal for his extraordinary contributions to theatre. In 2024 he was awarded Telly Academy Best Actor Award for Godhuli Alap series.

Ganadevata(Bengali: গণদেবতা) is a 1978 Bengali drama film directed by Tarun Majumdar, based on a novel of the same name by Tarashankar Bandopadhyay. The film stars Soumitra Chatterjee, Ajitesh Bannerjee, Samit Bhanja, Rabi Ghosh and Anup Kumar in lead roles. The epic novel is set in the 1920s during the British Raj, about the breakdown of socio-economic structures, impact of industrialization and non-cooperation movement in rural Bengal. Sudur Niharika (1976) is an Indian Bengali language film directed by Sushil Mukherjee and produced by Anjana Bhattacharya. It stars Soumitra Chatterjee, Soma Dey, Sumitra Mukherjee, Dipti Roy Bikash Roy, Debashree Roy, Rabi Ghosh and Arindam Ganguly. Music of the film was composed by Manabendra Mukherjee with lyrics penned by Shyamal Gupta.
