The 1973 NHL Amateur Draft was the 11th NHL Entry Draft. It was the first to be held on a separate day from other league activities on May 15, 1973, at the Mount Royal Hotel in Montreal, Quebec, so it would not overshadow the rest of the league meetings. Previously, the league had held the amateur draft in mid-June. It also marks the second time the meeting took place at the Mount Royal Hotel rather than the Queen Elizabeth Hotel.

The 1975 NHL Amateur Draft was the 13th NHL Entry Draft. It was held at the NHL office in Montreal, Quebec. The two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Philadelphia Flyers made the most noise at the draft, trading Bill Clement, Don McLean, and the 18th overall pick to the Washington Capitals for the number one overall selection, which they used to select Mel Bridgman. Later in round nine the Flyers became the first NHL team to select a Soviet-born and trained player in the amateur draft, selecting Latvian Viktor Khatulev 160th pick overall.
Gordon Dennis Roberts is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman who played 1,097 NHL regular season games from 1979 to 1994. He was a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is an honoured member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame.

David Earl Lumley is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Lumley was selected in both the twelfth round of the 1974 NHL amateur draft by the Montreal Canadiens and in the eighth round of the 1974 WHA Amateur Draft, by the Vancouver Blazers. Electing to pursue an NHL career, Lumley eventually played parts of nine seasons with the Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers and Hartford Whalers, winning the Stanley Cup on two occasions 1984 and 1985 with the Edmonton Oilers.

Carlyle joined the Alberta Oilers for the inaugural 1972–73 WHA season, staying with the renamed Edmonton Oilers until the 1975–76 WHA season.
Robert John Murray is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. He played 194 games for the Atlanta Flames and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League between 1973 and 1977. Prior to turning professional Murray played for Michigan Tech, and also spent time in the minor American Hockey League and Central Hockey League.
Douglas Henry Soetaert is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He was selected by the New York Rangers in the second round of the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft. He played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League with the Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, and Montreal Canadiens. After his playing career, he took on hockey executive roles with Kansas City Blades, Everett Silvertips, and Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights. In the 2016–17 season he was general manager of the Tucson Roadrunners in the American Hockey League.
Robert "Robbie" Holland is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He played 44 games in the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 1979–80 and 1980–81 seasons. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1977 to 1987, was spent in the minor leagues.
