Rafiat Folakemi Sule (born 3 August 2000), is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward at club level for the Bari-based A.S.D. Pink Sport Time, [1] in Italian Serie A. She previously donned the colours of Rivers Angels, and was top scorer in the league for two consecutive seasons. She has been described as "technically sound" with a sharp eye for goals from all distance. [2]

Club career

In May 2015, Sule reiterated her full belief in the ability of her teammates and manager in the ongoing season. [3] She opined that she was convinced that Bayelsa Queens will end the season in a good position. [3] During the 2015 season, Sule scored 11 goals in the league and two goals in the Federations Cup. [4] She dedicated her golden boot to her deceased father and to her teammates for the motivation, describing the award as something that came suddenly and as a sign that she was on the right path to realize her dreams. Sule also deemed it a collective indication of the efforts of her teammates. [5] In 2016, her performance for Bayelsa Queens led to her nomination for the May 2016 player of the month. [6] In March 2017, Sule, alongside Cecilia Nku, Halimatu Ayinde and Tochukwu Oluehi, were signed by Rivers Angels. [7]

At the 2017 Ladies in Sports conference, Sule was honoured for her outstanding performance during the previous season. [8] [9]

She joins the Italian Serie A A.S.D. Pink Sport Time team based in Bari in August 2020. [1]

International career

In February 2018, Sule was invited to the camp of the Nigerian national team ahead of the WAFU Cup in Côte d'Ivoire, but did not make the final squad list. [10] [11]

The 2017 Nigeria Women Premier League began on March 25, 2017. The date was fixed during the congress for women football league system in Nigeria on February 22, 2017, in Abuja, which had the Minister for Sports, Solomon Dalung in attendance. Martin White Doves, Tokas Queens, Capital City Doves and Taraba Queens were relegated from the previous season. Heartland Queens of Owerri and Sadaatu Kolo Amazons of Niger State were promoted to the elite division. Rofiat Sule, the top scorer of the last two seasons and Evelyn Nwabuoku, captain of the national team amongst others were signed by Rivers Angels F.C. In March 2017, previously relegated Capital City Doves were re-added to the league, increasing the number of teams to seventeen. On 24 March, COD United Amazons F.C. and Capital City Doves were confirmed to be excluded from the league after failing to meet the registration deadline. This reduced the number of teams to fifteen.

They successfully defended the title by defeating Bayelsa Queens by a lone goal from Osinachi Ohale in the super six final in Umuahia, Abia State. The super six tournament began on October 20 and was concluded November 5, 2015.

The 2019 Nigeria Women Premier League began July 24, 2019. The league was earlier scheduled to start in February, but due to logistic reasons and commencement of other competitions, it was postponed to March, May then later July.
