Roger Clark (born July 14, 1978) is an Irish-American actor and voice actor. He is best known for portraying Arthur Morgan through performance capture in the 2018 video game Red Dead Redemption 2 , a role which garnered him critical acclaim and numerous accolades.

Early life

Clark was born in the United States [1] on July 14, 1978, [2] [3] the son of an Irish mother and an Irish-American father. The family spent each summer vacationing in his mother's hometown of Sligo in Ireland. When he was 12 years old, the family permanently moved to Sligo, where he later completed his Leaving Certificate. [1] He later moved to Wales to study theatre, media, and drama at the University of Glamorgan. [4] [5] After living and working in London for a number of years, he relocated to New York City in the early 2010s. [6]

Career

Clark provided the performance capture for Arthur Morgan, the protagonist of the 2018 video game Red Dead Redemption 2 . His performance earned him numerous awards and nominations. [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] He also has a successful career onstage and has narrated over 50 audiobooks. [12]

Personal life

Clark has dual American and Irish citizenship. [13] He married his wife, Molly, on April 25, 2014. [14] They have two sons, Colin and Ruari. [15] Colin, born on February 18, 2013, [16] is on the autism spectrum. [17]

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a 2018 action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is the third entry in the Red Dead series and a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. The story is set in a fictionalized representation of the United States in 1899 and follows the exploits of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw and member of the Van der Linde gang, who must deal with the decline of the Wild West while attempting to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. John Marston is a character in the Red Dead video game series by Rockstar Games. He is the main playable protagonist of the 2010 video game Red Dead Redemption, wherein he must deal with the decline of the Wild West while being forced to hunt down the last surviving members of his old gang in exchange for the safe return of his family by the federal government. A team of approximately 1,600 people developed Red Dead Redemption 2 over several years. Rockstar Games published the action-adventure game in October 2018 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in November 2019 for Windows and Stadia. Rockstar co-opted all of its studios into one large team to facilitate development. The story is set in 1899 in a fictionalized representation of the Western, Midwestern, and Southern United States and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. Arthur must deal with the decline of the Wild West while attempting to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. The story also follows fellow gang member John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption (2010).

The music for the 2018 action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption 2, developed and published by Rockstar Games, consists of an original score composed by musician Woody Jackson and an original soundtrack produced by Daniel Lanois. The soundtrack album was released digitally in July 2019, consisting of vocal tracks with artists such as Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, and Josh Homme. The score album was released in August 2019, mostly consisting of Jackson's original work and collaborations with artists such as Colin Stetson, Senyawa, and Arca. An additional extended play, The Housebuilding EP, was released in February 2021, consisting of original songs by David Ferguson and Matt Sweeney. Two singles of music from the game have also been released: "Unshaken" by D'Angelo in January 2019, later released as part of the original soundtrack; and "Letter from Bluewater Man" by Christone "Kingfish" Ingram in August 2021, as part of an update for Red Dead Online.
