The Prince-Bishopric of Brixen was an ecclesiastical principality of the Holy Roman Empire in the present-day northern Italian province of South Tyrol. It should not be confused with the larger Catholic diocese, over which the prince-bishops exercised only the ecclesiastical authority of an ordinary bishop. The bishopric in the Eisack/Isarco valley was established in the 6th century and gradually received more secular powers. It gained imperial immediacy in 1027 and remained an Imperial Estate until 1803, when it was secularised to Tyrol. The diocese, however, existed until 1964, and is now part of the Diocese of Bolzano-Brixen.

Carl Lampert

Carl Lampert was an Austrian Roman Catholic priest who served as the pro-vicar for the Diocese of Feldkirch in addition to being an outspoken critic of Nazism during World War II. This led to constant surveillance against him and his eventual arrests on several occasions. This all culminated with his final arrest in 1943 and his death from the guillotine in 1944 alongside a fellow Christian prisoner.

Dieter Mathoi was an Austrian architect. With two colleagues, as the firm Heinz & Mathoi & Streli in Innsbruck, he worked for 35 years, building private homes in the alpine landscape of Tyrol, schools, offices and public buildings, among others. He opened his own office in 2008 and was known for prison buildings and for designing the controversial Kaufhaus Tyrol in Innsbruck with David Chipperfield.

The Caritas Vorarlberg, also Caritas of the Diocese of Feldkirch, is a social aid organization of the Roman Catholic Church in the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. It is part of Caritas Austria, but an independent institution and reports to the bishop of the Diocese of Feldkirch.
