Romy Truggelaar [1] (born 13 November 1992), better known as Romy Monteiro (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈroːmi mɔnˈteːroː] ), is a Dutch singer, actress and television presenter. After taking part in the singing competition The Voice of Holland in 2014, she was cast for the lead role in the Dutch musical The Bodyguard in 2015.

Career

In 2014, Monteiro took part in the fifth season of The Voice of Holland. She advanced to the live shows with Trijntje Oosterhuis as her coach, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals. In September 2015, she made her acting debut in the musical The Bodyguard, in which she played the role of Rachel Marron. In 2016, she won the Musical Award for Upcoming Talent for her role in The Bodyguard.

In the same year, Monteiro participated in the talent show Dance Dance Dance with her mother Antje Monteiro. They were eliminated in the fourth episode. On 10 February 2017, Monteiro released her debut album "A Tribute to Whitney", containing covers of songs by Whitney Houston. This album reached number 1 in the Dutch Album Top 100.

In 2017, she presented the children's show Mijn vader is de beste for AVROTROS. [2] Since 2017, she also presents the singing competition Junior Songfestival , which serves as the Dutch preselection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2018, she was a coach in the singing competition It Takes 2 on SBS6. [3] In 2019, she co-presented the talent show DanceSing with Johnny de Mol, also on SBS6.

In 2020, Monteiro returned to the public broadcaster AVROTROS to present De Hit Kwis together with Kees Tol. She portrays the role of Indra Kalkhoven in the RTL 4 soap opera Goede tijden, slechte tijden . [4]

On 22 May 2021, Monteiro announced the votes from the Dutch jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, replacing Duncan Laurence who had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier that week.

The Bodyguard is a 2012 stage musical with a book by Alexander Dinelaris, based on the 1992 film The Bodyguard, with the score featuring songs recorded by Whitney Houston including "One Moment in Time", "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and her pop version of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You". Het Grote Songfestivalfeest is a Dutch television concert programme starring artists of the Eurovision Song Contest, produced by PilotStudio in collaboration with the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS and held at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam. Two editions of the show have been held, on 15 December 2019 and 17 November 2022 respectively, with a third set to take place on 16 November 2023.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Birth of a New Age" written by Jeangu Macrooy and Pieter Perquin. The song was performed by Jeangu Macrooy, who was internally selected to represent the Netherlands at the 2021 contest after he was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "Grow" before the event's cancellation. In addition to its participation, the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS also hosted the contest in Rotterdam, after winning the competition in 2019 with the song "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence. Macrooy's re-appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 18 March 2020, while the song, "Birth of a New Age", was presented to the public during a special live broadcast on 4 March 2021.

The Netherlands participated in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Paris, France. National broadcaster AVROTROS selected Ayana to represent the Netherlands through the national final Junior Songfestival 2021. With her song "Mata Sugu Aō Ne", containing lyrics in Dutch, English and Japanese, she finished in 19th place at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest with 43 points.

The Netherlands participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with "De diepte" performed by S10. The Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS internally selected the Dutch entry for the 2022 contest. S10's appointment as the Dutch representative was announced on 7 December 2021, while the song, "De diepte", was presented to the public during an event on 3 March 2022.

Stien den Hollander, known professionally as S10, is a Dutch singer, rapper and songwriter. She began her musical career in 2016, and was signed to the Dutch hip hop record label Noah's Ark in 2017. In 2019, she released her debut studio album Snowsniper, which went on to win an Edison Award. Den Hollander represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "De diepte", the first Eurovision entry to be sung in the Dutch language since 2010.

"De diepte" is a single by Dutch singer S10. The song represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, after being selected by the Dutch public broadcaster AVROTROS. It is the first time since 2010 that a song sung entirely in Dutch represented the country at Eurovision. A week after the contest, the song topped the Dutch singles chart. The song was later included in S10's third studio album, Ik besta voor altijd zolang jij aan mij denkt, released on 28 October 2022.
