Ron Knight was a rugby league footballer who played for Canterbury-Bankstown and Western Suburbs in the 1930s and 1940s. He was used as a utility and played many positions including as a centre, winger and five-eighth.
Knight made his first grade debut for Western Suburbs in 1935 against St George at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Knight spent three seasons with Wests in first grade and two seasons in reserve grade for the club.
In 1941, Knight joined Canterbury-Bankstown and in 1942 played in only one game which was the 1942 NSWRL grand final against Eastern Suburbs. An injury to Roy McCarter meant that Knight was called into the side as a replacement. Canterbury went on to win their second premiership defeating Easts 11–9. Knight played one further season for Canterbury in 1943 before retiring. [2] [3]
The Western Suburbs Magpies is an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as the club is commonly referred to, was one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. The club, as a sole entity, departed the top-flight competition in 1999 after forming a 50–50 joint venture with Balmain Tigers to form the Wests Tigers. The club currently fields sides in the NSW State Cup, Ron Massey Cup (Opens), S.G. Ball Cup and Harold Matthews Cup competitions.
Andrew Farrar is an Australian former rugby league footballer and coach. He played for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Western Suburbs, Wigan and the Illawarra Steelers. Farrar also played for New South Wales in the State of Origin on several occasions and played for Australia in the 1988 World Cup Final. As a coach he worked with the Illawarra Steelers, the St. George Illawarra Dragons and the Wigan Warriors, and from 2017 to 2019 was the General Manager of Football at the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

Cec "Dicky" Fifield (1903–1957) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1920s and 1930s, and coached in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. An Australian international and New South Wales interstate representative centre, he played in the NSWRFL premiership for Sydney clubs, Western Suburbs, Balmain and Canterbury-Bankstown, as well as in England for Hull FC. Following his playing career, Fifield returned to the NSWRFL premiership as coach, first with Canterbury-Bankstown then with Parramatta.
The Wentworthville Magpies, colloquially known as Wenty, are an Australian rugby league team based in the suburb of Wentworthville in Sydney's Western Suburbs. Founded in 1963, the club has competed in various Sydney district competitions and, since 2003, the semi-professional Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield competitions in NSW, Australia. The club also fielded a team in the Canterbury Cup NSW as part of a joint-venture with the Parramatta Eels between 2008 and 2019 acting as Parramatta's feeder club.
Scott Tronc is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. A Queensland State of Origin representative forward, he played club football in Brisbane with Souths, winning a premiership with them in 1985, and later the Broncos, and in Sydney with Wests, Canterbury-Bankstown and Souths.
Jason Paul Williams is a New Zealand former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. A New Zealand international representative winger, he played his club football in Australia for Sydney's Western Suburbs Magpies, Eastern Suburbs Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and the Penrith Panthers as well as in England for Salford. Williams played 145 games in the Australian competition from 1987–88 and 1991–98, scoring a total of 63 tries and winning the 1995 ARL Premiership with the Canterbury club. Williams played in 12 test matches for New Zealand between 1991 and 1995, scoring one try. He played in one non-test international on the 1993 Kiwis tour against Wales and two World Cup matches.
Leo Clarke is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played in the National Rugby League for the St. George Illawarra Dragons and the Western Suburbs Magpies. Clarke is of Māori descent. He has been a Junior Pathways coach since 2010 for the South West Sydney Academy of Sport, Western Suburbs Magpies, Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and the Penrith Panthers. Clarke has also coached the under 18’s Men’s team with the NSW Māori Rugby League.
