Ronald McHenry (born January 21, 1962) is an American former college women's basketball coach at Washburn University. During his 22 seasons at Washburn, he led the Ichabods to one national championship, seven conference regular season and tournament championships, and twelve NCAA tournament appearances. [1] Prior to his current post, McHenry served as an assistant coach at a local high school, assistant and interim head coach for the Topeka Sizzlers for one season, assistant coach for the Washburn men's basketball program, as well as the men's golf coach at Washburn for eight seasons. [2]
Born on January 21, 1962, in Olathe, Kansas, McHenry began his college basketball career as a player for the Coffeyville Red Ravens and Kansas Jayhawks before finishing his college career at Washburn University. [3] After graduating from Washburn, McHenry served as a graduate assistant for the Ichabods for one season before landing a teaching and assistant coaching job at Perry-Lecompton High School. In 1988, McHenry served as the assistant coach and interim head coach for the Topeka Sizzlers of the Continental Basketball Association. [4] After a season with the Sizzlers, McHenry returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach under Bob Chipman. [5]
In May 2000, McHenry was announced as the next women's basketball coach at Washburn. [6] During his time at Washburn, McHenry has posted a 426–127 (.770) overall record, 247–93 (.726) conference record, and has won eight conference regular season championships, seven conference tournament championships, [7] and one NCAA Division II Tournament championship. [8]
He retired after the 2021–22 season. [9]

Ernest Elmer Bearg was an American football and basketball coach. He served as the head football coach at Washburn University from 1918 to 1919 and again from 1929 to 1935 and the University of Nebraska–Lincoln from 1925 to 1928, compiling a career college football record of 71–40–7. Bearg also spent one year as Nebraska's men's basketball coach (1925–1926) and posted an 8–10 mark. Lewman Arthur Lane was an American football and basketball coach. He was the 24th head football coach at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, serving for one season, in 1945, and compiling a record of 3–1. He had previously coached at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri before coming to Washburn. He returned there to coach football again in 1947.
Larry A. Elliott was an American football and baseball coach. He was the 32nd and 36th head football coach for Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He held that position for five seasons, from 1974 until 1978 and then returned for six more seasons, from 1984 until 1989. His overall coaching record at Washburn was 58 wins, 51 losses, and 1 ties.
Dennis Caryl is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Upper Iowa University from 1977 to 1979 and Washburn University from 1990 to 1993, compiling a career college football coaching record of 16–52. After resigning from Washburn eight games into the 1993 season, Caryl was the defensive coordinator at Western New Mexico University in 1994. The following year, he was hired as defensive coordinator at Sonoma State University.
Craig Schurig is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas; a position that he has held since 2002. He is the 40th person to hold the post. He is known for turning around a once losing program to a winning program. As of the 2013 Washburn University budget, Schurig's salary is listed as $101,303.
George F. Tardiff was an American football coach at the collegiate and high school level. He served as the head football coach at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas from 1974 to 1976 and Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas from 1983 to 1984, compiling a career college football coaching record of 22–23.

The Ichabods previously competed in the Central States Intercollegiate Conference (CSIC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) from 1976–77 to 1988–89; in the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) from 1972–73 to 1975–76; in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) from 1968–69 to 1971–72; in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (CIC) from 1940–41 to 1967–68 ; as an Independent from 1933–34 to 1939–40; and in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) from 1902–03 to 1922–23.
The Topeka Sizzlers, originally the Kansas City Sizzlers, were a professional basketball team based in Kansas City, Missouri from 1985 to 1986 until they relocated to Topeka, Kansas where they played from 1986 to 1990. The Sizzlers were members of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA).

Jory Michael Collins is an American women's college basketball coach currently serving as the head coach for the North Dakota State program. From 2010 until 2018, Collins was the head coach at Emporia State University. Collins led the Emporia State Lady Hornets to eight consecutive winning seasons. Logan Patrick Stutz is an American retired professional basketball player. He played the power forward and center positions during his playing career. From 2018 to 2021, he was the head coach and general manager for the Sudbury Five of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBLC). As of 2021, he is the director of player development for the Boston College Eagles.

The 2016 Washburn Ichabods football team represented Washburn University in the 2016 NCAA Division II football season. The Ichabods played their home games on Foster Field in Yager Stadium at Moore Bowl in Topeka, Kansas, as they have done since 1928. 2016 was the 126th season in school history. The Ichabods were led by fifteenth-year head coach, Craig Schurig. Washburn has been a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association since 1989.
The Stony Brook Seawolves women’s basketball team is the college basketball program representing Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York. The Seawolves currently participate as part of the NCAA Division I basketball, and compete on the Colonial Athletic Association. He served as Baker University's head men's basketball coach from 2010 to 2012, and in various positions with the Kansas Jayhawks men's basketball team from 2003 to 2010.
Marion G. MacDonald was an American football and basketball coach. He served as the head basketball coach at Western Carolina University–then known as Western Carolina Teachers College–from 1945 to 1947 and Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas from 1951 to 1960. During his time at Western Carolina, he also served as an assistant football coach and, for one season, head coach in 1945.
