The XFL was a professional American football league that played its only season in 2001. The XFL was operated as a joint venture between the World Wrestling Federation and NBC. The XFL was conceived as an outdoor football league that would begin play immediately after the National Football League (NFL) season ended, to take advantage of the perceived lingering public desire to watch football after the NFL and college football seasons conclude. It was promoted as having fewer rules to encourage rougher play than other major leagues, while its telecasts featured sports entertainment elements inspired by professional wrestling, including heat and kayfabe, and suggestively-dressed cheerleaders. Commentary crews also featured WWF commentators joined by sportscasters and veteran football players. Despite the wrestling influence, the games and their outcomes were legitimate and not based on scripted storylines.
Super Bowl XXXVII was an American football game between the American Football Conference (AFC) champion Oakland Raiders and the National Football Conference (NFC) champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers to decide the National Football League (NFL) champion for the 2002 season. The Buccaneers defeated the Raiders by the score of 48–21, tied with Super Bowl XXXV for the seventh-largest Super Bowl margin of victory, winning their first-ever Super Bowl. The game was played on January 26, 2003, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California.
Jon David Gruden is an American professional football coach who is an advisor for the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football. He held his first head coaching position with the Raiders franchise during their Oakland tenure from 1998 to 2001, where he won two consecutive division titles and made an AFC Championship Game appearance. Gruden was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, which he led to their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII the same season. At age 39, he was the then-youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl. He served as Tampa Bay's head coach through 2008, setting the franchise record for wins, but made only two further playoff runs. After his firing from the Buccaneers, Gruden was featured as an analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts from the 2009 to the 2017 seasons.
Andre Previn Rison is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders. He also played in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Toronto Argonauts. Rison was selected to the Pro Bowl five times from 1990 to 1993 and once again in 1997.
Idrees Kenyatta Walker is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. Walker played college football for the University of Florida. A first-round pick in the 2001 NFL draft, he played professionally for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
Samie Jabar Parker is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the wide receiver's coach at the University of North Alabama. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Oregon. Johnnie Harris is a former American football safety. He played in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Tampa Bay Storm (1996–1998), Orlando Predators (2005), Grand Rapids Rampage (2006–2007), Philadelphia Soul (2007) and Dallas Desperados (2008). Harris also played in the National Football League as a safety for the Oakland Raiders (1999–2001) and the New York Giants (2000–2003).
Anthony Drew Dorsett, Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. Dorsett was selected by the Houston Oilers in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL draft. He was also a member of the Oakland Raiders, Toronto Argonauts and Omaha Nighthawks. He is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett.

As a player, he was a defensive back who spent most of his professional career playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) in the second round of the 2000 NFL draft. He played college football for the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Tony Derrell Smith is an American former professional football player who was a running back for three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL).
