The XFL was a professional American football league that played its only season in 2001. The XFL was operated as a joint venture between the World Wrestling Federation and NBC. The XFL was conceived as an outdoor football league that would begin play immediately after the National Football League (NFL) season ended, to take advantage of the perceived lingering public desire to watch football after the NFL and college football seasons conclude. It was promoted as having fewer rules to encourage rougher play than other major leagues, while its telecasts featured sports entertainment elements inspired by professional wrestling, including heat and kayfabe, and suggestively-dressed cheerleaders. Commentary crews also featured WWF commentators joined by sportscasters and veteran football players. Despite the wrestling influence, the games and their outcomes were legitimate and not based on scripted storylines.
Jon David Gruden is an American professional football coach who is an advisor for the Milano Seamen of the European League of Football. He held his first head coaching position with the Raiders franchise during their Oakland tenure from 1998 to 2001, where he won two consecutive division titles and made an AFC Championship Game appearance. Gruden was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002, which he led to their first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XXXVII the same season. At age 39, he was the then-youngest head coach to win the Super Bowl. He served as Tampa Bay's head coach through 2008, setting the franchise record for wins, but made only two further playoff runs. After his firing from the Buccaneers, Gruden was featured as an analyst for ESPN's Monday Night Football broadcasts from the 2009 to the 2017 seasons.
Andre Previn Rison is a former American football wide receiver who played professionally for the National Football League (NFL)'s Indianapolis Colts, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, and the Canadian Football League (CFL)'s Toronto Argonauts. Rison was selected to the Pro Bowl five times, from 1990 to 1993 and once again in 1997.
Mr. Irrelevant is the nickname given to the person drafted with the final pick of an NFL draft. Most players drafted with the very last draft pick do not even end up playing in an actual NFL game, let alone go on to having successful careers in the NFL. Idrees Kenyatta Walker is an American former professional football player who was an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. Walker played college football for the University of Florida. A first-round pick in the 2001 NFL draft, he played professionally for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL.
Johnnie Harris is a former American football safety. He played in the Arena Football League (AFL) for the Tampa Bay Storm (1996–1998), Orlando Predators (2005), Grand Rapids Rampage (2006–2007), Philadelphia Soul (2007) and Dallas Desperados (2008). Harris also played in the National Football League as a safety for the Oakland Raiders (1999–2001) and the New York Giants (2000–2003).
Anthony Drew Dorsett, Jr. is an American former professional football player who was a safety in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Pittsburgh Panthers. Dorsett was selected by the Houston Oilers in the sixth round of the 1996 NFL Draft. He was also a member of the Oakland Raiders, Toronto Argonauts and Omaha Nighthawks. He is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame running back Tony Dorsett.
Johnnie Morant Jr. is a former gridiron football wide receiver. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Syracuse. He is the former head strength and conditioning coach at East Carter High School.

Justin Charles Medlock is an American former professional football player who was a placekicker in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). He played college football for the UCLA Bruins, earning consensus All-American honors in 2006. The Kansas City Chiefs selected him in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft. Medlock also played in the NFL for the Carolina Panthers, as well as the Toronto Argonauts, Edmonton Eskimos, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.
Isaiah "Ike" Charlton is a former professional Canadian football linebacker and currently the defensive backs coach for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). As a player, he spent most of his professional career playing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL. He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia Tech.
Jerry Wayne Crafts is a former American football offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles. Richard Kyes "Rik" Bonness is an American former college and professional football player who was linebacker for four seasons in the National Football League (NFL). A consensus All-American at Nebraska as a center, he played professionally for the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Bruce Campbell is a former American football offensive tackle. He was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. He played college football at Maryland. He is the son of the late former Providence College basketball great Bruce "Soup" Campbell.
