Ronald Bordessa

Ronald Bordessa is the current President Emeritus of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, having served as its President and Vice Chancellor from 2006 to 2011, when on July 1 he was succeeded by Tim McTiernan.

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as UOIT, is a public research university located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It was founded in 2002 by the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Act, 2002 passed by the Government of Ontario, and its first students were accepted in 2003, making it one of Canada's newest universities.

Bordessa was born in Wales and educated at the University of Wales at Swansea and Liverpool University.

The University of Wales was a confederal university based in Cardiff, Wales, UK. Founded by Royal Charter in 1893 as a federal university with three constituent colleges – Aberystwyth, Bangor and Cardiff – the university was the first and oldest university in Wales, one of the four countries in the United Kingdom. A geographer and academic of over 30 years, Bordessa was provost at Royal Roads University in British Columbia and was former dean of York University's Atkinson Faculty of Liberal & Professional Studies before his appointment at the UOIT.^[1]

Bordessa is a visiting professor of Geography at the University of Western Australia in Perth, Australia and serves the same role at Helsinki University in Finland, and at the University of Joensuu in Finland.

The UOIT Engineering Students’ Society, also known as UOIT EngSoc, is the representative student body for all undergraduate full-time students enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) and the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS) at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). In addition to providing funding for engineering clubs and groups, UOIT EngSoc organizes professional development, extracurricular and sports events for over 1,800 members, proudly representing engineering students at Ontario’s fastest growing university.
