Rose Elinor Dougall (born 13 March 1986) is an English singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. She was a member of the Pipettes and has performed with Mark Ronson. She also performs and records as a solo artist.
Dougall joined the Pipettes in 2003 after being introduced to the initial line-up by Monster Bobby at The Basketmakers pub in Brighton. With the Pipettes, Dougall took lead vocals on the singles "Judy" and "Dirty Mind". During her time with the Pipettes, she also provided guest vocals for The Young Playthings, Brakes and Dr Colossus. On 18 April 2008, it was announced in a blog post on the band's Myspace that Dougall and bandmate Rebecca Stephens had amicably left the band "to pursue other musical projects".[ citation needed ]
After her departure from the Pipettes, Dougall pursued a solo career. [1] Her debut 7" "Another Version Of Pop Song" received praise from many quarters.[ who? ] Her second single, "Start/Stop/Synchro" was reviewed in publications such as the NME , Pitchfork Media, The Guardian , The Sunday Times and Under The Radar .[ citation needed ] Her third single, on digital download, was scheduled for release on 23 November 2009, the first to feature her live band The Distractions. [1] A CD release of her singles to date "Singles 1,2,3" was released in Japan on 9 December 2009. [2] Her first solo album, Without Why, was released on 30 August 2010.
Dougall is a vocalist and instrumentalist on Mark Ronson and the Business Intl's album Record Collection and co-wrote the last song on the album, "The Night Last Night". She appeared in a cameo on Ronson's video for "The Bike Song" and also with his band on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. She has toured with Ronson, with her band also providing the support act.
Dougall appeared as a guest on BBC 6 Music's Roundtable on at least four occasions since September 2010. [3] [4] [5] [6]
In November 2016 she performed with the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House in a production of Wayne McGregor's Carbon Life. [7]
In April 2022, she announced on social media a new collaboration with Graham Coxon under the name The Waeve.
Dougall was born in Hampstead in London, but raised in Brighton and attended Camberwell College of Arts as late as mid-2006, and as a student appeared uncredited on the BBC Two show James May's Top Toys in December 2005, drawing the presenter on an Etch A Sketch. [8]
Her father, Alastair Dougall, is a singer-songwriter. [9] She is the granddaughter of former BBC news broadcaster Robert Dougall. [10] Her brother Thomas was a guitarist with Rose's backing band, was formerly of Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong and now plays in the psychedelic/kraut-rock group Toy.
She is in a relationship with her Waeve collaborator Graham Coxon, with whom she has a daughter. [11]
Blur are an English rock band formed in London in 1988. The band consists of singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon, bass guitarist Alex James and drummer Dave Rowntree. Their debut album, Leisure (1991), incorporated the sounds of Madchester and shoegaze. Graham Leslie Coxon is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter who came to prominence as a founding member of the rock band Blur. As the group's lead guitarist and secondary vocalist, Coxon is featured on all of Blur's studio discography. He has also led a solo career since 1998, producing and playing all instrumentation on his solo albums. As well as being a musician, Coxon is a visual artist: he designed the cover art for all his solo albums as well as Blur's 13 (1999).
The Pipettes were an English indie pop girl group formed in 2003 in Brighton by Robert "Monster Bobby" Barry. The group has released two albums, We Are the Pipettes, and Earth vs. The Pipettes and released numerous singles to support it; the most successful being "Pull Shapes" which peaked at No. 26 in the UK Singles Chart. The group was active from 2003 to 2011.

Joe Lean & the Jing Jang Jong were an English indie rock band based in London. Although the band attracted considerable press attention following the 2007 release of their debut single "Lucio Starts Fires" they failed to capitalise on this, and disbanded in 2010. The band are perhaps best known for failing to ever release their critically acclaimed debut album.
Andrew Wyatt Blakemore is an American musician, singer, songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Manhattan, New York, he began his career playing in New York bands such as The A.M. and Black Beetle. He gained wider notability as the frontman of the Swedish electronic pop band Miike Snow, which released its acclaimed debut album in 2009. Since that time, Wyatt has released two other albums with the band as well as his solo debut Descender on Downtown Records in 2013.

"Under the Westway" is a single by English band Blur, released in July 2012. After being played by Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon at Brixton Academy as part of a charity performance for War Child, speculation rose as to "Under the Westway"'s release. On 25 June 2012, it was announced on Blur's Twitter account that the track would be performed live by the band via a live stream and released for download shortly after, with Albarn stating "I wrote these songs for [the upcoming Hyde Park show] and I’m really excited about getting out there and playing them for people." The single was released as a download-only release on 2 July 2012, accompanied by "The Puritan", and received a physical release in August. The song also made its radio debut on Steve Lamacq's BBC Radio 6 Music show on the same day. It was the band's first single since 2010's "Fool's Day". An early mix of the song is included on the Blur 21 box set.

The Ballad of Darren is the ninth studio album by English rock band Blur. It was released on 21 July 2023 by Parlophone and Warner Records. The album's songs were written by frontman Damon Albarn in 2022 while on tour with Gorillaz, and composed by Albarn and the rest of the band. It was produced by James Ford at Studio 13 in London and Devon. It is Blur's first album since The Magic Whip (2015), and their shortest album, with a runtime under 40 minutes. The album's artwork features a 2004 photograph of a man swimming alone in the Gourock Outdoor Pool in Gourock, Scotland, taken by Martin Parr. Its title refers to Darren "Smoggy" Evans, the band's longtime bodyguard.
