Roselaine Benites (born 27 May 1981) is a Brazilian long-distance runner. She competed in the marathon event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China. [1]

The World Athletics Road Running Championships is a biennial international road running competition organised by World Athletics. The competition was launched as the IAAF World Half Marathon Championships in 1992 and held annually until 2010. It was renamed the IAAF World Road Running Championships in 2006 and reduced in distance to a 20K run, but reverted to the half marathon distance the following year and to the original competition name the year after that. The competition was renamed to its current title in 2020 after the governing body rebranded itself moving away from the long-standing International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) moniker and expanded to include additional races.

Luíz Antônio dos Santos was a Brazilian long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon. Born in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro, he was a World Championships bronze medalist and a 1996 Olympian. He twice won the Chicago Marathon and also won the Fukuoka Marathon.

Atletismo Sudamericano, formerly CONSUDATLE, is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within South America. CONSUDATLE is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA). CONSUDATLE was founded on May 24, 1918, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Therefore, the CONSUDATLE claims to be the oldest athletics area association of the world. The founding members were Argentina, Uruguay, and Andean Chile. The 1986 Ibero-American Championships was an athletics competition which was held at the Estadio Pedro Marrero in Havana, Cuba from 27 to 28 September 1986. A total of 36 events, comprising 21 men's and 15 women's events, were contested by sixteen countries. It was the second edition of the Ibero-American Championships, and the first to be held in Latin America. The Chilean city of Valparaíso was initially chosen to host the event, but the competition was moved after organisation difficulties. High temperatures at the venue affected athletic performances, particularly in the longer distance events.

The 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships were a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. The event was the 7th edition of what is now known as the World Para Athletics Championships, held from 21 to 31 October 2015 at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It featured 119 men's events and 91 women's events. The Marathon events which are traditionally part of the world championships were separated from the competition and instead held on 26 April as part of the London Marathon.

In 2015, the foremost athletics event was the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing. The two other major global level competitions in 2015 are the World Cross Country Championships and the IAAF World Relays.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2013 World Masters Athletics Championships</span> International athletics championship event

Jose Cesar de Souza is a retired Brazilian marathon runner who competed in the 1980s and 1990s. In the World Marathon Majors, de Souza became the second athlete from Brazil to win the Chicago Marathon when he won the 1992 event in 2:16:14. The following year, de Souza reappeared at Chicago and finished in 12th place. Outside of Chicago, de Souza was 81st in the 1991 World Marathon Cup and failed to reach the finals of the 1998 IAAF World Road Relay Championships. He also won a silver medal at the 1987 South American Championships in Athletics.

The 2023 World Athletics Road Running Championships are scheduled to take place in Riga, Latvia, on 1 October 2023. As the inaugural World Athletics Road Running Championships, they will include the World Athletics Half Marathon Championships, which were last held in 2020. A flat, single-lap marathon course in the Baltics' largest city. All courses are traffic-free.
