Roshan Perera (born 2 April 1976) is a Sri Lankan entrepreneur, business magnate, investor and philanthropist. [1] He was also the CEO of Bellucci Sri Lanka (pvt) Ltd in 1996, [2] which he made into Asia's largest ceramic figurine manufacturing company. [3] [4] He eventually owned the company while employing over 5,000 staff members. The company was the flagship supplier to multinational companies such as Disney, Hallmark and Walmart.

At 22, he was considered the youngest Sri Lankan billionaire entrepreneur [5] to run organizations with over 10 billion Sri Lankan rupees turnover. By 2001, his business empire was diversified into branches for ceramics, agriculture, packaging, freight-forwarding, clothing and fashion, and media and investments. [6] [7]

Career

After dropping out of Harvard Business School and returning home, he developed the contact he had made with Disney, in particular with the then Disney CEO Michael Eisner. [8] He convinced Disney to visit Sri Lanka in 1996 braving the civil war that ravaged the country [9] This was the breakthrough the country needed: Disney was the world's only Fortune 500 company to purchase goods from the war-torn island, which laid the foundation for other companies such as Hallmark to follow suit and boost the economy of Sri Lanka. Unhappy with simply manufacturing figurines for international brands, Perera launched his own brand named Bellucci. [11] [12]

Beauty Pageants

Roshan Perera is the Franchisee for Miss Sri Lanka Online, [13] Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Intercontinental, [14] [15] which is the country's most popular beauty pageant to-date., [16] [17] [18]

In 2005 he ventured into the beauty pageant Industry, some of the winners who came from his organizations include Maria Colombage and Jacqueline Fernandez. [19] [20] [21] [22] [23]

Other ventures

His main investment is considered to be "Lanka SS", the company he inherited from his father, which manufactures ice skates. The flagship company Platinum Holdings is considered to have investments diversified in countries from Australia to India. [24]

In agriculture, the company is currently popularizing traditional rice varieties [25] known as the Miracle Rice of Sri Lanka. [26] [27] [28] [29] Over 10,000 acres of farm land is used for this purpose. [30] [31] [32]

Colombo Fashion Week (CFW), is a semiannual fashion show held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with spring/summer and Swim Wear in autumn ; Swim Week Colombo. It was created in 2003 by Ajai Vir Singh. It is organised by CFW Holdings and sponsored by HSBC.

Kulappu Arachchige Don Dhammika Perera, commonly known as Dhammika Perera, is a Sri Lankan billionaire businessman and politician. A top corporate raider, he is one of the wealthiest people in Sri Lanka, controlling 23 listed companies on the Colombo Stocke Exchange. Perera owns a controlling stake in the conglomerates Hayleys and Vallibel One, a company he founded. Through Hayleys, Perera controls Amaya Leisure, The Kingsbury and Singer while Royal Ceramics, LB Finance, and Lanka Tiles are controlled by Vallibel One. Perera has been closely linked to the former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, having served as chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka from 2007 to 2010 and Transport Secretary from 2011 to 2015. He was appointed a Member of Parliament in the National List in June 2022, succeeding Basil Rajapaksa from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, briefly serving President Gotabaya Rajapaksa as his Minister of Investment Promotion from June to July 2022.

Atulugamage Shammi Shiraj Silva is a sports administrator, bookmaker and the former president (2019/2022) of Sri Lanka Cricket. Shammi was elected as President of SLC for another two year term when the election was held on 20 May 2021. Throughout his tenure, Silva and the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has been accused by various parties of corruption, financial mismanagement and match-fixing allegations, sparking public outcry.

Gayesha Perera is a Sri Lankan actress, tv host, model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Sri Lanka for Miss International 2006 beauty pageant.

Lakshman Arjuna Mahendran is a Sri Lankan-born Singaporean economist and banker. He is a former Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), having been appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena in January 2015 and served until the end of his term on 30 June 2016. He was the former Managing Director of HSBC Private Bank, Chief Investment Officer of Emirates NBD as well as chairman and Director-General of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka. Mahendran is currently residing in Singapore, which has refused to extradite him on a request from Sri Lanka routed through interpol.

In 2003, Dhammika Perera acquired the company and became a subsidiary of Vallibel One. Currently, the company is one of the components of the S&P Sri Lanka 20 Index. Brand Finance ranked the company 24th in the 100 most valuable brands in Sri Lanka. The company placed 39th in the LMD 100 for the financial year 2019/20.

Chandrishan Perera also spelt as Chandrashan Perera was a Sri Lankan rugby union player, coach, commentator, journalist, lawyer and administrator who also served as former captain of the national side. He represented Sri Lanka rugby sevens side from 1979 to 1994 in the position of winger. He was nicknamed as Shan.
