Ross Adams is an English actor. [1] He is best known for playing Scott Drinkwell in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2015 to 2024 and previously played the role of Jeff Bowyer in the BBC Three sitcom The Gemma Factor .

Life and career

Adams moved to Manchester at the age of 18 to study performing arts at the University of Salford. [2] On graduating, he secured an agent and has appeared in several television dramas and comedies including Blue Murder , Emmerdale , I'm With Stupid, and Eleventh Hour alongside Patrick Stewart. [1]

He also works frequently in the field of voice-overs, having voiced several commercials and documentaries, such as Kellogg's Frosties. [3]

He has also previously worked as the assistant to the series producer for Coronation Street before moving to Emmerdale as a storyliner. [4] Having written stories for over 400 episodes he then became a Script Editor; leaving the show in February 2015 to commence filming Hollyoaks. [4]

He is also the founder and Principal of Small Screen Talent; a TV Acting academy and agency for young performers.

Adams was nominated for a RTS Television Award at the Royal Television Society Awards 2010 in the "Best Performance in a Comedy" category for his role as Jeff Bowyer in the BBC Three sitcom, The Gemma Factor . [5]

Adams began appearing as a regular in the Channel 4 soap opera, Hollyoaks , as Scott Drinkwell from April 2015 onwards. He was awarded the British Soap Award for "Best Male Dramatic Performance" in June 2018. [6]

In July 2018, Adams made an appearance as a panelist on Love Island: Aftersun alongside Ferne McCann and Danny Jones. [4]

Personal life

In April 2018, Adams married his boyfriend Phil Crusham. [7]

James Nightingale (<i>Hollyoaks</i>) Fictional character from Hollyoaks

James Nightingale is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Gregory Finnegan. The character made his first on-screen appearance on 12 January 2016. Finnegan's casting was announced in December 2015, and James was billed as a mysterious character and lawyer. His introduction to the show featured him attempting to convince Cindy Cunningham to take legal action against Mac Nightingale, in a bid to secure his assets. Having kept the character's identity concealed, writers implemented a story twist in which James is revealed to be Mac's son. Lysette Anthony was cast to play his mother Marnie Nightingale, a character which James features alongside most. Their on-screen partnership developed them into a trouble making and villainous duo. Writers played on their manipulative manner to the extent that James manages to con the entire Hutchinson family, out of their restaurant "The Hutch". As of 2024, He is the only Nightingale remaining following Warner’s departure in January 2024.

Scott Drinkwell is a fictional character from the British soap opera Hollyoaks, played by Ross Adams. The character made his first appearance on 27 April 2015. Producers asked Adams to audition for the role while he was working as a script editor on rival soap opera Emmerdale. The actor forgot his lines during his screen test but was still offered the role. The character was billed as a "troublesome new relative" joining the show's established O'Connor family. He is the cousin of Sinead O'Connor and nephew to Diane O'Connor. Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood introduced the character to cause conflict with other characters.

Ashley Rice is an English actor, known for his role as Sid Vere on the BBC soap opera Doctors. For his role as Sid, Rice has been nominated for various accolades including Newcomer at the 21st National Television Awards and the British Soap Award for Best Actor in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Prior to appearing in Doctors, Rice appeared in series including The Gemma Factor and portrayed the role of Seth Foreman in Tracy Beaker Returns.
