Ross Andrew Ainsworth (born 25 September 1947) is an Australian politician. He was a National Party of Western Australia member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1989 to 2005, representing the electorate of Roe.
Ainsworth was born at Hamilton in Victoria, and arrived in Western Australia in 1960. He was a farmer at Salmon Gums before entering politics. [1]
Ainsworth was elected to the new Legislative Assembly seat of Roe at the 1989 election, and was re-elected in 1993, 1996 and 2001. He was the National Party spokesperson for Employment, Education and Training and Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs from March 1989 to November 1992, and the Coalition Shadow Minister for Employment and Training from November 1992 to February 1993 after the National Party re-entered its coalition with the Liberal Party. He was not appointed to the ministry upon the election of the Court Coalition government at the 1993 election. [1]
Ainsworth was Deputy Chairman of Committees from June 1993 to March 1998. He served on the Joint House Committee (1991-1993), the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation (1993-1994), and the Education and Health Standing Committee (2001-2005). He also served as the chairman of the Select Committee on Road Safety (1993-1996), and as a member of the Select Committee on the Water Bill (1991-1992) and the Select Committee on Heritage Laws (1993-1995). He retired at the 2005 election, at which his seat was lost to Liberal candidate Graham Jacobs. [1]

The National Party of Australia (WA) Inc, branded The Nationals WA, is a political party in Western Australia. It is affiliated with the National Party of Australia, but maintains a separate structure and identity. Since the 2021 state election, the Nationals WA is the senior party in an opposition alliance with the WA Liberal Party in the WA Parliament. Prior to the election, the National Party was sitting in the crossbench, and the Liberal Party was the sole opposition party. The election resulted in the National Party winning more seats than the Liberal Party, and gaining official opposition status. Under the opposition alliance, the National Party leader and deputy leader would be the opposition leader and deputy opposition leader, respectively, the first since 1947, and each party would maintain their independence from each other.

Hubert Stanley Wyborn Parker DSO VD was an Australian politician who represented the Western Australian Legislative Assembly seat of North-East Fremantle from 1930 until 1933, and one of the three Legislative Council seats for Metropolitan-Suburban Province from 1934 until 1954. He was a member of the Nationalist Party until 1945, when the party merged into the Liberal Party. He was also a qualified solicitor and distinguished military officer who served at Gallipoli and in France during World War I.

His career background includes being a Senior Infantry Army Officer (Colonel) and Afghanistan veteran; a business leadership and management consultant; and Senior School Economics teacher and Head of Department.
Samuel Mathew Piantadosi was an Australian union official and politician. A senior Western Australian union official and the founding chairman of the Ethnic Communities Council in the 1980s, he was elected as a Labor Party member of the Western Australian Legislative Council at the 1983 state election. His election made him the first post-war Italian migrant to be elected to the Parliament of Western Australia. He was re-elected in 1989, but resigned from the Labor Party in 1996, late in his second term, after reading newspaper reports that party figures were suggesting he would retire. He subsequently resigned from the Legislative Council several months short of the conclusion of his term in an unsuccessful attempt to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Yokine as an independent at the 1996 state election. He returned to politics in 2007 as a councillor and later Deputy Mayor of the Town of Bassendean, and held the latter role until his death.
