Fraser Ross McMains [1] is an American-born New Zealand basketball coach. He is currently an assistant coach with the Louisville Cardinals men's college basketball team.
McMains was born in New Hampshire in the United States before growing up in New Zealand on Waiheke Island. [2] [3] He attended Kadimah College in Auckland, having to take the boat to school every day. He returned to the U.S. at age 11 when his family moved to Santa Barbara. There he went to Santa Barbara High School. After high school, he returned to New Zealand and got a job working with the New Zealand Breakers organisation in 2007. A year or so later, he returned to the U.S. and started in player development, working with a mix of pro players in Los Angeles. That led to an opportunity to work with players in Latvia, France, and China. He also ran NBA Pre-Draft Preparation for two years in Santa Barbara, while also running off-season workouts for a selection of NBA and international players. [2] During this time, he studied at Santa Monica College (2008–10) and John Cabot University (2011) in Rome, Italy. [4] He was exposed to European basketball while in Rome. [2]
McMains' coaching career began as a special assistant – a role that saw him focus on player development – with the Sacramento Kings for the 2012–13 NBA season, before spending the next two seasons with Sacramento's D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns. He returned to New Zealand in 2015 and was named assistant coach for the New Zealand Tall Blacks. [5] He went on to win the NZNBL Coach of the Year as head coach of the Taranaki Mountainairs in 2016. [6] From there, he returned to the United States and spent two seasons in the NBA G League as an assistant coach with the Santa Cruz Warriors and Westchester Knicks, [7] [8] before joining the New York Knicks for the 2018–19 season as head video coordinator. In August 2019, McMains was appointed an assistant coach with Melbourne United of the Australian NBL. [9] He parted ways with Melbourne in August 2020. [10]
In May 2021, McMains was appointed an assistant coach with the Louisville Cardinals men's college basketball team. [11]
Sean Pero MacPherson Cameron is a New Zealand basketball coach and former player. A FIBA Hall of Fame member, he captained the New Zealand Tall Blacks from 2000 to 2010, helping lead New Zealand to the semifinal of the 2002 FIBA World Championship, earning an All-Tournament Team selection in the process.
William "Red" Holzman was an American professional basketball player and coach. He is best known as the head coach of the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1967 to 1977, and again from 1978 to 1982. Holzman helped lead the Knicks to two NBA championships in 1970 and 1973, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1986.
The New Zealand Breakers are a New Zealand professional basketball team based in Auckland. The Breakers compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at multiple venues, mainly Spark Arena. The team was founded in 2003 and remains the only team in the league to compete from New Zealand and are one of two teams from outside of Australia to have competed in the NBL. In 2011, the Breakers won their first NBL Championship and successfully defended it in 2012 and 2013, claiming the second three-peat in NBL history. They won their fourth title in 2015.

Brian Scott "Scotty" Hopson is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Tennessee Volunteers before playing professionally in Greece, Israel, Turkey, Spain, China, Croatia, New Zealand and Australia. He has also played in the NBA G League and had short stints in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers (2014), Dallas Mavericks (2018) and Oklahoma City Thunder (2021–22).
Marcel Xavier Jones is an American-New Zealand professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Oregon State Beavers between 2004 and 2008 before embarking on a professional career that spanned across the globe, from Europe and the Middle East, to his adoptive home of New Zealand. Since 2009, Jones has had consistent yearly stints in the New Zealand NBL, largely due to gaining New Zealand citizenship in 2012. He has also played consistently in the Persian Gulf region since 2017.
Nnanna Egwu is an American professional basketball player for Earth Friends Tokyo Z of the Japanese B.League. He played college basketball for the Illinois Fighting Illini. Egwu holds the career record for blocks at Illinois, finishing with 201.
Tai Hikuroa Wynyard is a New Zealand professional basketball player who last played for the Taranaki Airs of the National Basketball League (NZNBL). He began his career playing in his home country for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian NBL and the Super City Rangers of the New Zealand NBL. After a two-year stint in the United States playing college basketball for Kentucky, Wynyard returned to the Australian and New Zealand NBL.
Willie James Burton Jr. is an American-New Zealand former professional basketball player who spent 19 seasons playing in the New Zealand National Basketball League (NBL). Burton came to New Zealand in the mid-1980s to play for Palmerston North and became a league legend. He kept himself in great shape and was still playing top basketball when he turned 40. He won six rebounding titles and ranks as the league's all-time leader around the boards. He finished his career with 4,244 career rebounds, nearly 1,500 rebounds more than the next best individual rebounding total.

Shea Ili is a New Zealand professional basketball player for Melbourne United of the National Basketball League (NBL). Ili was raised in Māngere Bridge, playing his basketball at Onehunga High School and appearing for Counties Manukau in rep teams before appearing in the New Zealand NBL with the Auckland Pirates in 2012. In 2014, he joined the New Zealand Breakers as a development player. That season, he was a member of the Breakers' championship-winning team. In 2016, he was elevated to the Breakers' full-time roster, and in February 2018, he was named the NBL Most Improved Player for the 2017–18 season.

Aaron Bailey-Nowell is a New Zealand former basketball player. He debuted in the National Basketball League (NBL) in 2002 with the Wellington Saints and won a championship with them the following year. He played for the Taranaki Airs for the first time in 2004, his first of four stints. He played two seasons for the Manawatu Jets from 2006 and a season with the Auckland Huskies in 2020. In 2013, he helped the NZ Maori team win the FIBA Oceania Pacific Championship while earning the tournament's most valuable player award. He represented New Zealand at FIBA 3x3 tournaments in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
