The Royal Belgian Korfball Federation (Dutch: Koninklijke Belgische Korfbalbond, or KBKB) is the governing body of korfball in Belgium. The federation is structured as an Association without lucrative purpose. [2] It organises the main Belgian korfball league and the more recreative leagues, and the Belgian national team.

History

The federation was founded in Antwerp on 28 April 1921 as Belgian Korfball Federation (Dutch: Belgische Korfbalbond, or BKB). In 1953 the federation was allowed to add the title Royal to its official name.

The Royal Belgian Korfball Federation was one of the founders of the International Korfball Federation, with the Dutch Federation, on 11 June 1933. [3]

The Belgium national korfball team, nicknamed the Belgian Diamonds, is managed by the Koninklijke Belgische Korfbalbond (KBKB), representing Belgium in korfball international competitions.

The Korfball European Cup was the main annual korfball competition for clubs in Europe. The first Europa Cup took place in 1967 in London (England), with two teams from the Netherlands, Belgium and the host nation England. Ons Eibernest from The Hague won the first tournament. The tournament was won exclusively by clubs from the Netherlands and Belgium, and Mitcham (England) and Adler Rauxel (Germany) were the only clubs outside Netherlands and Belgium to reach the final. In January 2022, the IKF announced that the IKF Europa Cup and IKF Europa Shield would be replaced by the IKF Europe Korfball Champions League for the 2022-23 Season.

The Human Rights League was founded in Belgium on 8 May 1901, after the in 1898 established Ligue des Droits de l'Homme in France. The Belgian initiative came from Eugène Monseur, a professor at the Université libre de Bruxelles.

Founded in 1956, the RBHF is affiliated to the International Handball Federation and European Handball Federation. RBHF is also affiliated to the Belgian Olympic Committee. It is based in Ans. and Halen.

The Belgian Indoor Athletics Championships is an annual indoor track and field competition organised by the Royal Belgian Athletics League, which serves as the Belgian national championship for the sport. Typically held over two to three days in February during the Belgian winter, it was first added to the national calendar in 1989, supplementing the main outdoor Belgian Athletics Championships held in the summer since 1889. National championships in relay and combined track and field events are contested separately.

The Belgian Cross Country Championships is an annual cross country running organised by the Royal Belgian Athletics League that serves as the national championship for the sport in Belgium. It is usually held in February or March.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Belgian men's 4 × 400 metres relay team</span> National athletics relay team

The Belgian men's 4 × 400 metres relay team, nicknamed the Belgian Tornados from July 2014 onwards, is the relay team of the Belgian national athletics team that has given the highest number of medals in the international competitions, mainly thanks to the support of the Borlée family.
