The Royal International Horse Show (originally the International Horse Show) is the official horse show of the British Horse Society and consists of both showing and showjumping events. The event is held during July each year [1] at the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead. The event is currently title sponsored by Longines, making it the Longines Royal International Horse Show.
The show is the oldest horse show in Britain, having started in 1907. [2]
The first Royal International Horse Show was held at London Olympia in 1907, hosted by the Institute of the Horse and Pony Club, which would later become the British Horse Society. It was discontinued during the First World War but revived after it. No show took place in 1933, but a new committee headed by the young 10th Duke of Beaufort re-established the event at Olympia in 1934. [3] Having also been held at Wembley Stadium, White City Stadium in West London and the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, the show moved to the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead in 1992. The 2016 Supreme championship title was awarded to Lucinda Farmbourgh and Tambrook My Destiny.
Stroller was a bay gelding who was the only pony to compete at the Olympics in show jumping. He stood about 14.1 hands.
Boomerang, later Carroll's Boomerang, was an Irish Sport Horse who stood 16.2 hh (168 cm), ridden in show jumping competitions, most successfully by Eddie Macken. Boomerang was also ridden by Liz Edgar (Broome), Johan Heins and Paul Schockemöhle.
The All England Jumping Course at Hickstead, known widely as Hickstead, is an equestrian sport centre in West Sussex, England, principally known for its showjumping activities, where it hosts two international level competitions, the British Jumping Derby and the Longines Royal International Horse Show. The course was the first permanent showground for equestrian sport in the country, opening in 1960.
The Horse of the Year Show - also known as HOYS - was founded to be a culmination of the British equestrian events year. The Show was the idea of Captain Tony Collings and was realised by the then Chairman of BSJA, Mike Ansell. As it was to be the end of Season Finale the show needed to be held indoors, making it a unique event. HOYS was first held in 1949 at Harringay Arena in Harringay, London. It was held as an annual event which moved to Wembley Arena, London, ten years later. The show again moved to Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre in 2002 due to the impending closure of Wembley Arena for reconstruction, where it is now held every October. The event has become larger and more complex each year in its larger venue, including the introduction in 2003 of an extensive Equestrian Retail Village.
David McPherson Broome is a retired Welsh show jumping champion. He competed in the 1960, 1964, 1968, 1972 and 1988 Olympics and won individual bronze medals in 1960 and 1968 on his best-known horse Mr Softee. In 1960, he was also voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and at the 1972 Games served as the Olympic flag bearer for Great Britain.
Hickstead was a stallion ridden by Canadian Eric Lamaze. With rider Lamaze, he was an Olympic gold and silver medalist in show jumping. Hickstead was owned by Torrey Pines and Ashland Stables Inc.
Benjamin Richard "Ben" Maher MBE is a British show jumper. He represented Britain at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2009 European Championships, Windsor, and 2012 London Olympics. He won the team jumping gold at the London Olympics with Team GB, their first team jumping gold medal for 60 years. He also won bronze at the 2011 Europeans Championships in Madrid, Spain. He has won many international Grand Prixs including the Olympia Grand Prix, Hickstead King George V Gold Cup at Hickstead, FEI World Cup Qualifier Grand Prix at Wellington with various rides.
Tim Stockdale was an English equestrian who competed in the sport of show jumping.
Marion Janice Mould is an English show-jumper. She competed for Great Britain at the 1968 Summer Olympics, winning a silver medal in the individual jumping event.

Olympia London International Horse Show is one of the UK's biggest equestrian competitions, held at Olympia, London. It is best known for its showjumping, however it also has competitions in horse showing, driving, mounted games, dog agility and more recently dressage. Evening sessions are broadcast live by the BBC each year, with the puissance. It is held over seven days, in the week preceding Christmas, and many of the events are Christmas themed.

Scott Brash MBE is a Scottish showjumper. He began riding the horse Hello Sanctos in early 2012. They competed as part of the British Team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London winning a gold medal in the team jumping event. In 2015 he became the first rider to win show jumping's Rolex Grand Slam, all three of the sport's most prestigious events in a single year, earning the sport's biggest individual prize of 1m Euros (£735,000).
Charlotte Susan Jane Dujardin, is a British dressage rider, equestrian, and writer. The most successful British dressage rider in the history of the sport and the winner of all major titles and world records in the sport, Dujardin has been described as the dominant dressage rider of her era.

William Whitaker is an English show jumper from Yorkshire. Whitaker has represented Britain at show jumping. Whitaker is from a dynasty of show jumpers and horse trainers including his uncles Michael and John Whitaker.
Pieter Devos is Belgian show jumping rider from Diest, Belgium. He is a regular on the Belgian team and has won team gold medals at the 2019 European Championships in Rotterdam (NEL) and 2018 FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona (ESP), both on Claire Z. He runs his family's fruit farm and he and his brother share Devos Stables BVBA. He married Caroline Poels in 2015 and the couple have a daughter, Lisa, born in 2017, and a son, Vic, born in 2019.
