Rulda Singh Kharoud (born 9 April 1952 - 14 August 2009) [1] was an Indian politician. He was president of Rashtriya Sikh Sangat. He was also general secretary of NRI wing of Bharatiya Janata Party. In July 2009,Singh was shot by two or three armed assailants outside his residence,and died weeks later to his wounds. [2]
Singh was born in Jat Sikh family on 9 April 1952 to father Babu Singh in Jasowal,a village near Patiala,Punjab,India. [1] He was eldest among seven siblings. [3] He was married to Surjit Kaur. As of 2006,Singh resided near Sirhind road in Patiala district. [1] Due to his close proximity with BJP &leaders from several Hindu religious organisations,he was very committed to play the role in bridging the gap between Hindu &Sikh community in Punjab as well as other Indian states,which had lately been affected during post-Bluestar years. Representing Sikh community,he was sworn in as National president of RSS’s Sikh off-shoot Rashtriya Sikh Sangat,formed primarily to promote nationalism &harmony amongst Sikh youth who were disgruntled with Congress’s divisive politics,which included 1984 Sikh riots &subsequent,militancy in Punjab in late 80s &early 90s.
On 29 July 2009,Rulda Singh was shot several times in the face and abdomen by two to three armed assailants. [2] Weeks later he died at PGIMER,Chandigarh. [4] In July 2010,three UK Sikhs were arrested following an 11-month investigation. [5] [6]
Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was a Sikh militant. He was the leading figure of the Khalistan movement,although he did not personally advocate for a separate Sikh nation.

Harchand Singh Longowal was the President of the Akali Dal during the Punjab insurgency of the 1980. He had signed the Punjab accord,also known as the Rajiv-Longowal Accord along with Rajiv Gandhi on 24 July 1985. The government accepted most of the demands of Akali Dal who in turn agreed to withdraw their agitation. Less than a month after signing the Punjab accord,Sant Longowal was assassinated by Gyan Singh Leel and Jarnail Singh Halvara.

The 1984 anti-Sikh riots,also known as the 1984 Sikh massacre,was a series of organised pogroms against Sikhs in India following the assassination of Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. Government estimates project that about 2,800 Sikhs were killed in Delhi and 3,350 nationwide,whilst other sources estimate the number of deaths at about 8,000–17,000.

Paramjit Singh Pamma is an activist and Sikh nationalist from the state of Punjab,India. Pamma received political asylum in the United Kingdom in September 2000 on the grounds of potential mistreatment by Indian authorities,whom he claimed had previously tortured him for his political views. He has since lived in the UK with his family.
During the years of 2016 and 2017,multiple attacks on political activists and mostly Hindu religious leaders in the northern Indian state of Punjab were perpetrated by individuals who were allegedly affiliated with the Sikh militant group Khalistan Liberation Force which is a designated terrorist group by India. Those culpable for the attacks were also arrested. The Pakistani agency ISI was allegedly held responsible by India for financing and aiding the militant acts to foment religious disturbances in the state.

Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) is a militant outfit of the Khalistan movement. In February 2023,it was designated as a terrorist organization by the Indian government.
On September 5,1985,at 9:20 am member of the Delhi Metropolitan Council,close associate of Sanjay Gandhi,and Congress leader Arjun Dass was assassinated by 3 Sikhs in Delhi. The assassins were Harjinder Singh Jinda,Sukhdev Singh Sukha,and another member of Jinda's group. They killed Dass in revenge for his role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Along with Arjun Dass his bodyguard,a constable,was killed and 6 others were injured.
Harmeet Singh also known as PhD or Happy was the 8th chief of Khalistan Liberation Force.
Harminder Singh Nihang,also known as Harminder Singh Mintoo,was a prominent Sikh militant and the 7th leader of Khalistan Liberation Force. Nihang was instrumental in reinvigorating the Khalistan Movement in the 21st Century. Nihang died in police custody.
