The Russian Consulate General in Jerusalem was the diplomatic mission of the Russian Empire to the Ottoman Empire, in Jerusalem. The consulate was established in 1858, and operated in the city until 1914. [1]
The Russian Consulate General was established in Jerusalem in December 1858.
[2] In 1914 the Ottoman Empire was at war with the Russian Empire, forcing the Russian consuls to leave for Egypt. Since that time, the Russian diplomatic presence in Jerusalem ended. During the British Mandate for Palestine, the British made the consulate building and its surroundings their administrative centre. [3] Since the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, the consulate building is used by Jerusalem municipal departments.
Grigorgdhn Dimitrov Nachovich was a Bulgarian politician and diplomat. One of the early leaders of the Conservative Party and the country's first Minister of Finance, he served as a minister in a number of Bulgarian governments from the late 1879 to 1900, and was also mayor of Sofia in 1896–1897.
People's Artist of the RSFSR was an honorary title granted to Soviet Union artists, including theatre and film directors, actors, choreographers, music performers, and orchestra conductors, who had outstanding achievements in the arts, and who lived in the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR). This title was one rank below Honored Artist of the RSFSR and one above People's Artist of the USSR.
The Griboyedov Prize was a Russian literary award established in 1878 by the Society of Russian Dramatists and Opera Composers to honor Alexander Griboyedov. The opening ceremony was held on 11 February, on the anniversary of the great Russian playwright's death. The prize, collected through private donations, was awarded to the best play of the year, produced in Saint Petersburg and Moscow by either Imperial Theatres or their private counterparts. Despite the fact that the Prize was launched in 1878, it was first awarded in 1883.
