Rusty: A Dog's Tale (Known as Rusty: The Great Rescue on Home Video) is a 1998 American adventure film directed by Shuki Levy and starring Hal Holbrook and Rue McClanahan. [1] The movie was produced by Saban Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment under the CBS/Fox Video label.

Synopsis

The film is about two orphans named Jory (Blake Foster) and Tess (Danielle Keaton). Their cousins Bart (Charles Fleischer) and Bertha (Laraine Newman) try to take them away from their grandparents (Hal Holbrook and Rue McClanahan) because the two children have trust funds from their late parents. When Bart and Bertha kidnap the newborn puppies, Rusty the dog (Matthew Lawrence) decides to save them.

Reception

Of the film's 2006 re-release on DVD, Andre Dursin of The Aisle Seat offered that the film, a "very cute, impossible-to-dislike tele-film from Shuki Levy and Haim Saban easily trumps their more bombastic children’s fare (like the Power Rangers ). [6]

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is an American animated adventure comedy television series produced by Walt Disney Television Animation. Created by Tad Stones and Alan Zaslove, it featured established Disney characters Chip 'n' Dale in a new setting. After the episode "Catteries Not Included" aired on August 27, 1988 as a preview, the series premiered on The Disney Channel on March 4, 1989. The series continued in syndication in September 1989 with a two-hour special, Rescue Rangers: To the Rescue, later divided into five parts to air as part of the weekday run. On September 18, 1989, the series entered national syndication. It often aired on afternoons along with DuckTales, and beginning on September 10, 1990, as a part of the syndicated programming block The Disney Afternoon. Shuki Levy is an Israeli-American music composer and television producer. Levy's best known work is soundtrack compositions for children's television programs of the 1980s, such as The Real Ghostbusters, Inspector Gadget, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, M.A.S.K., Dinosaucers, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, She-Ra: Princess of Power, and Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. In the 1990s, he became known chiefly for his work on the Power Rangers franchise, Digimon: Digital Monsters, Masked Rider, VR Troopers, and Big Bad Beetleborgs. He has also written and directed numerous episodes for some these television shows, and directed a few films, such as Perfect Victims (1988) and Blind Vision (1991). He was also part of a musical duo known as Shuky & Aviva with his partner Aviva Paz.

Harold Rowe Holbrook Jr. was an American actor. He first received critical acclaim in 1954 for a one-man stage show that he developed called Mark Twain Tonight! while studying at Denison University. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in 1966 for his portrayal of Twain. He continued to perform his signature role for over 60 years, only retiring the show in 2017 due to his failing health. Throughout his career, he also won five Primetime Emmy Awards for his work on television and was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in film.
