Ruth McCabe is an Irish stage, screen and voice actress known from Clones, County Monaghan. [1] She is known for starring as Kay Curley in Stephen Frears ' The Snapper , [2] Christy Brown's paramour Mary in My Left Foot , [3] and Wyn Ryan, sister of Dr. Sam Ryan, in three seasons of Silent Witness . [4] She originated the role of Kay McCoy, proprietor of McCoy's bar in RTÉ's soap opera Fair City . [5]

Awards and recognition

McCabe won the inaugural IFTA in 2003 for Best Actress in a Supporting role, for playing Margaret McCutcheon in BBC One Northern Ireland's Any Time Now , [6] [7] and again in 2011, for her role as Eithne Driscoll in the Irish police series Single-Handed . [8] [9]

Personal life

Ruth's father was Irish playwright and screenwriter Eugene McCabe. [10]

McCabe took a break from acting to raise her first child, but performed in the one-woman play "The Worm in the Heart" while pregnant with her second child. [11]

Damo and Ivor was a comedy duo act from Ireland, composed of two contrasting Dublin stereotypes, both portrayed by Andrew Quirke. The characters first appeared on bebo and YouTube - most notably in 'Skanger Me Banger(sic)'in late 2007/early 2008 and first on television in RTE's, Republic of Telly in 2011. Their musical parody, "Everybody's Drinkin'" debuted at sixth position in the Irish Singles Chart in April 2011 after the music video was shown on the programme. On 16 September 2013 their television show, Damo and Ivor debuted on RTÉ Two.
